@GX1XD1PD The wii uses it's own proprietary disc media. After an update, it's also possible to use dual layer discs with the Wii.

But I don't think Skyward Sword uses it.

Since the game cube they haven't created they're own media medium for home consoles the gc was a mini dvd player. The wii a dvd player with no digital audio. The wii u and upgraded bd player or most likely a bd-xl player(which is needed inorder to be able to read all four layers.)

If you compare it to the beginning of the 360 and PS3, it looked like PS2 games with slightly better lighting, shadows and textures.

And besides, this footage was recorded with an iPHONE. It would have looked better in person.

@1080portal It does 1080p running graphics this good. A ps3 can only do at best 720p when it does really great graphics. PC's are the only thing that can handle 1080p with anything you can dish out. WiiU is naturally capable to run 1080p any game thats been out on ps3 or 360 easy. It would be stupid if it didn't in this year of 2012. Graphics are not going to get any better than this for a looooong time.

They correlate though in instances where a system like the Playstation 3 (a system that can do 1080p) has to put out a max of 720p because the graphics on the game use up a lot of its power. I did not say that they will not beat current gen graphics, I said that we will not see that much of a difference in newer consoles. I don't see the PS4 doing significantly better graphically than the Wii U.

Only difference we can see happening is that the graphics are getting cleaner. The Wii U looks like a PS3 with better lighting and smoothing. Nintendo games with this technology will look AMAZING. Mario might look like a CG cartoon movie, Zelda will look mythic(though hopefully not very Twilight Princess like the Wii U demo) Donkey Kong Country with graphics like the original trilogy but all made of real polygons and shaders and not pre-rendered 3D graphics. Its enough to make me drool and nothing has been announced yet

@SgtThom a decent gaming system like that one isn't that expensive. with llano you will now be able to get a decent motherbort and apu(they call it that but it's simply a cpu with good integrated graphics compared to how good the cpu is) for $200. it won't be able to run crysis smooth maxed out at 1920*1080 and it's not really supposed to either,

a hdd isn't really expensive these days and it don't have to be included with all models, still i think nintendo will lose money on each sold wii u,

Showing the full Zelda HD demo would not have been a good idea considering Skyward Sword is still on deck, but the could have show this one. Would have tied up a lot of loose ends. I have to say that watching this while hearing the 'Temple Of Time' theme in the background is awesome!

It's the price of the development process, game, and PC. You have to realize that not everyone has a high-end PC. Most PC-players are still stuck with older models and graphics cards and that they're only now thinking of upgrading. If you release a high-end graphical game, you're not going to guarantee that it'll pay off. It takes a lot to make graphics like these, and if not everyone buys it: You're losing money. That's the advantage consoles have: everyone has the same hardware.

Plus even when you are talking about high-end computers, not all computers are high-end in the same way. The Nvidia 8600 had better particle shaders than the current models; the newer ones have better physics routines. Not only that, but you can't code efficiently for something that has varied architecture like the PC. Look up the date and graphics of Star Criusader.

Just look at the tech demos from the GameCube presentation back in 2000. They, actually, look like your average GC title. They were true tech demos that showed the true capabilities of the console. But you don't need to be jealous, I'm sure your PS4 or Xbox 720 will have a good hardware too.

There is nothing going on in this trailer...its a cinematic with decent depth of field effect and time of day. There is 1 bird on display with a lot of polygons...fail demo this
