@elmariatze Paco de Lucia plays flamenco, a traditional spanish danceform. Jimmy rosenberg plays gygpsy jazz, two widely different styles.

Yes he is Sinti. His Uncle Stochelo has a world famous trio. They claim to be distant relatives of Django. Quite possible, altough a lot of Gypsy guitar players make that claim.

Jimmy is really great. And the song is called "Micro". But he didn´t have to listen to Stochelo so much because it really influenced his style and acutally it´s quite similar. He has to find his own personality in music..

They play by ear which makes them incredibly good on improvising, just like most jazz, blues and rock grand masters. Music theory and discipline only cripples improvisation skills.

.....well....all Gypsies originated from India, specifically that area that is now Pakistan. There is this misconception that Gypsies are Slavic, Albanian, Romanian, or whatever, but this is not so. The Sinti gypsies are known for their guitar virtuosity and the Roma gypsies are better known for playing the violin. They all speak Roma, or Romani.

To play like this you have to pratcice eight hours a day....solid!!! I love Gypy Jazz and Bluegrass, but after three weeks of practicing non stop I always put the guitar away out of frustration/boredom, and I go back to training long distance running.....
