This is wonderful. I love demos almost more than the polished versions, because you can hear the guitar stripped down without all the layers and layers of music that buries the raw, emotional and spiritual elements of a song. It is also easier to learn a song when you hear it "bare bones". Please continue to post more demos / bootlegs / outtakes. I have not heard most of them but would love to !
this isn't the earliest demo version of this song.ne did an acoustic demo version of this song in 68.you can even find it on youtube.you shouldn't be stating lies walrus.
three years earlier, but his pleasant demeanour can’t hide the residual bitterness he feels over the incident. He explains how he had considered giving the song to Frank Sinatra to record, but had decided against it when he realised that Sinatra would record almost anything. A brief fragment of a playback of “Get Back” can be faintly heard during this conversation, but no one seems to be listening to it.
GET BACK The Beatles Let It Be Disaster (Doug Sulpy & Ray Schweighardt)
Sunday January 26th, 1969
George provides some background to his song “Isn’t It A Pity.” He jokes and quotes the spoken introduction to Tiny Tim’s recording of Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire” in which Tiny introduces the number as one originally recorded “way back in the ‘50’s” (The Beatles will cover “Great Balls of Fire” later in the day). He then recalls John’s off hand rejection of “Isn’t It a Pity”
@kingsergio128 It has to be '66? George offered it to the Beatles for Revolver, which was released that year. Still, it doesn't sound like George circa '66. I am sure he had to of had a demo for the others to listen to before making their decision - a bad decision (John's) to ommit this epic song from Revolver or their subsequent records. With My Sweet Lord, George's first solo #1.
Another gem from my Sweet Lord.Thankyou for putting this on you tube, it's one of my favourite songs by George. If only people at the time and since had truelly listened to his words we would be in a much safer and a much happier world now.The Beatles truelly tried to show us a better way, a way of love, although I know some did hear, isn't it a pity isn't it a shame that so many of us that where around then didn't take their message to our hearts.
@jldraw...Thank you so much for that Informstion on when this was recorded. Your info really paints a picture in my mind of what that evening must have been like for George recording with the other three gone...peace and serenity. A moment frozen tin time.....
By far the greatest version...his voice sends shivers down the spine even after all these years later. I love his raw demo work on acoustic most of all. Why was this song never used on a Beatle album we will never know.
So moving, really gorgeous. Wish the production on the final version wasn't so heavy-handed. I'd have liked a happy medium between this, more delicate & thoughtful version & the final one with the sweeping scope.
also add the fast version of Two of Us+ Let it Down which was demoed during these sessions and don't forget to delete Dig it. For this album and Abbey Road John Lennon is composing very little and George easily replaces him as the second force in the group. Could have been an interesting album if Klein, Spector etc hadn't got their hands on it.
Actually, the earliest version would be the acoustic run-through from the Get Back sessions (and available on Youtube). I wonder if this demo was recorded when still with The Beatles... how John and Paul could hear a song like this and shrug their shoulders is hard to comprehend, but I suppose they had some rather good songs of their *own* they wanted on the albums...too much talent in one band, really.
This version pre-dates the "Get Back" runthrough by one day. The version you are referring to was taped on the morning of January 26th. This version is believed to have been recorded the previous evening at the end of the session for January 25th after the other Beatles had left for the evening.
The film crew had departed as well so there were no bootlegs of this performance from the film reels. It's first appearance was on itunes. This is George's demo as recorded by Glyn Johns on 1-25.
@joeysmith59 I kind of agree but leaving off for you blue and dig a pony? come on they`re still good songs. I personally could have done without "Long and Winding Road" echh.
@dropd26 I agree, one after 909, for you blue and dig a pony are some of my favorite songs, take off long and winding road and dig it and maybe even two of us which i'm not enamored with and then put on all things must pass, don't let me down, isn't it a pity, junk, even jealous guy which was written around that time and it would be the greatest album ever.
i like it

¿No es una lástima?
Ahora, ¿no es una vergüenza?
Como nos rompemos el corazón
Y nos causamos dolor
Como nos amamos
Sin pensar en nadie más
Olvidándonos de mirar atrás
¿No es una lástima?
