I think the pros could learn the basic steps, but the stars would really have trouble.

probably work better on So You Think You Can Dance. Thats where they have outside pros come in to teach dances. Ballroom Pros on DWTS probably don't know it.

@Sewnknit: I agree. Shagging is harder than it looks. It encompasses 8 count like the Lindy however if you look at the dancers, the action is in the knees down, not in the hip, & it takes awhile to create that smooth floor glide look, plus memorizing hand/finger touch for the moves. I got exposed to it in Virginia Beach as a transplant from NJ 20 years ago. Non existent in NJ. The degree of style varies tremendously up & down the SE Coast. True Myrtle Beach Shag is amazing to watch.
