And Best Buy told me it's gonna be about a month before I get my tower back. It seems that November is proving to be the month of massive hardware failure. <_<

This is a good video aside from your others. The cam quality may be bad, but there is something about this video that shows that... you and may not have things set up perfectly all the time and even ppl like you can be in tight situations, which shows you still do live a regular life just like us. I like it!

Have you made sure it's nothing to do with the battery at all? My old Canon's battery fried when I got it wet, So I always wrap it in a clear plastic bag now for anything like that.
But you really need to get yourself a secondary camera if you're gonna do shit like that in future, Have a look at the Canon HG20, it's pretty cheap and it's what I've used for my recent videos, there's also some far more impressive videos on the net using them.

If it costs about $500 to fix ,call Canon and ask them if they have any refurbished units for sale ,you mite find one for less than repair cost and with a warranty.

Although you have a pretty high production value in terms of your videos, most of us come here for the content! So if you decide to use the iMac, your loyal subcsibers will not fault you for it. Besides, from what I can see the quality of the video is decent enough!

Canon XH A1? Damn, that sucks man. I am getting a Canon XH A1S and I hope this isn't a common problem with the camera. Thanks for the weak tip Enfeeblement. Would have been easier to just type in the name of the cam but whatever.
In the meantime u can work on your scripts, and do test runs with the mac to review for yourself and prepare foe the final product! keep up the good work, love the show.
in fairness though, if canon make high end camera like the one you use, then surely they must know that film makers will use it outside and they should at least build in some protection to the camera for exterior shooting. like for instance - making it rain proof.
i'd say you'd be lucky if the repair is in the region of 400 bucks.
in this day and age, companies are going to town on people for repairs cause they know people cant affford to buy a newer mode :(
Maybe instead of a full episode, you can take some questions, and make a video answering them. I think it would be great, and people would know a little more about you.

in fairness though, if canon make high end camera like the one you use, then surely they must know that film makers will use it outside and they should at least build in some protection to the camera for exterior shooting. like for instance - making it rain proof.
i'd say you'd be lucky if the repair is in the region of 400 bucks.
in this day and age, companies are going to town on people for repairs cause they know people cant affford to buy a newer mode :(

I had a similar problem some time ago, I used my mini dv cam when it was snowing... i turned on, but it did not record or play anything. It cost my a lot to fix it because I could not find the
warranty ticket...
