The act of surrendering is the first step in ascending. There is no-thing to fight. It just is, which allows one to pass right thru it and use it as the ultimate steppingstone to the gift that we are all after that cannot be named.

By what does he mean "symbolism" (absolute vs relative, etc.)?

@mmattb what he means is that there is a symbolism related to your relative life ( your everyday human life. The absolute is pointing towards a more eternal existence where all human life is included but individuality is not relative in this absolute level. It is a bit complicated to watch a video and get the picture, you need to read more until eventually it sinks in and you realize on what level you each communication is given.
