One of the most beautiful songs I know. It takes me to a place and time with a man I have loved since i was 14 years old and I am 52 now and the love and passion for him has not subsided. I am willing to leave my current life behind me but so many people would be hurt. My husband children and grandchildren would not understand. After not communicating for 20 years and then reuniting with each other he sends me this song for Valentines Day and it makes me want to giveup everthing and go to him.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Hyman twice, once at the Possible 20's when she had come in to have a meeting with her manager and the second time at the funeral of Noel Pointer. I didn't realize at the time that she would shortly after leave this plane. I was in awe and didn't say much, but wish I had told her how much she was loved, so my message is when you see someone you care about
I have a photograph with her and her autograph! All I can say is if anyone ever has a chance to see her in concert, please do not pass up the opportunity. She is the sweetest celebrity you could ever meet. I say this from experience...She is very down to earth and very much appreciative of her fans...believe me.
Who care about Lil Wayne, fuck that nigga, I came here to hear Angela and this beautiful song, not what some dumb rapper sampled this, I bet it sound like shit, just like his music!
This song touches our hearts together not the meaning itself but the memories we shared our last dance. . . . 28 years ago! Love you forever. . . .CC072208
I want to say thank you raymondbarber1001 for the post. But please explain why did you include photos of people who aren't Angela Bofill. Everything was everything until I saw the photos of other women. They weren't even close in appearance. I though WTF is that about? Next time, when in doubt the LP cover will do. As I said before thanks for the post. But no more jokes, ok..
yes, these were songs of healing for the problems back in the day, and we do need better music than this crap on the radio today, cause thats all they talk about is sex and degrading of women and the "N" word...
I have been listening to all these old r&B songs and i can't help but to think wtf is on the radio today ;songs like this were healing ....this might have saved someone's relationship, they put more love and morals in music back in the day we need to learn that shit to these days; not just how dougie..smh
When I first Angela Bofil sing 1979 a religious experience emerged. It reminded me of what some Blacks folks live through in church. I got happy. She pointed my ears in a different direction.
I never understood why she wasn't more popular. She has a great, soulful voice. She just didn't fit a niche, I guess. Her multiple strokes impoverished her & waylaid her career. She's back in concert this year, the voice a little weaker but I'll bet it will get stronger with time. She's only in her 50's , usually a good age for a voice. Best of luck to her.
This song was definitely one of the highlights of 1979 - a period that was the height of Disco, and I was really getting tired of monotonous electronic music. I loved this song the first time I heard it - so refreshing to hear it on the radio, and she could REALLY sing - no gimmicks. At the time Angela Bofill reminded me of the old school singers like Aretha Franklin and Etta James - a pouring out of the very soul, not to mention the deep message in the song, instrumentation - whole nine.
My first album, knew all the songs on this album. Love her, Got to thinking about Teena Marie and then all the women singers I loved, She was definitely in my top ten. Love her
Angela Bofill has always reminded me of Phillis Hymen; both beautiful, soulful women. They even look like twins. Where are the female singers like them today?

lol @ ignorant ass Lil Wayne being associated with this song for whatever
ignorant ass reason and his ignorant ass fans showing up here with all of
their ignorant ass proud to be ignorant ass comments. Its amazing how a
tool of communication (hip hop) can be turned into a means to keep these
ignorant ass niggas on an ignorant level of thinking to the point it dictates
society.
Hip hop's more powerful than anyone wants to give credit.
It's managed to keep a few generations of niggas stagnant
