  • How much material do you need?

  • Awesome!

  • thanks for the info on holding shift! i often fall off my things

  • HOW CAN U USE THOSE CAMERAS!!!!!!!?

    I DON'T KNOW HOW!!!

  • Works in 1.1?

  • @Seaiker try it

  • plz plz plz download link

  • You nicer than S4GAM3R

  • Awesome! GEE THANKS BALLS MAN YOUR THE BEST! I LOVE THE CANNON!

  • i did dis and used the plane mod then 3 secs after i get shot down!

  • I took a month to make this and on my first try it blew up

  • How this this guy know this stuff is he related to notch

  • @RagerAwesomeNova even notch doesn't know this XD

  • @RagerAwesomeNova no he's Etho

  • Does this still work in 1.0? my server likes tnt and i want to build them this so i was just wondering if it still works.

  • @hutchinsdamien umm... we all know your name since its right there. and i wont check out your channel cuz its marked as a spam

  • Does this work with the NUKE-Mod? :D

  • @Alekovic360

    yes :)

  • thanks so much :D

  • Now add crew quarters

  • this thing works great!!!! until it blew up in my face.

  • are the changes you made of camera nesassary

  • hey ethos (and anyone else) i remade your cannon from this tutorial but added one thing different, i made my own safety system, very simple but extremely useful. i have a quick video of it on my channel if you could take a couple minutes to check it out

  • oh and sandstone looks like white chocolate blocks : P

  • remember the clouds move to the north! and east is right of the north so that's how to place the guards :D

  • To do the compact timer in 1.0.0 you have to make ANOTHER row coming out and have 2 redstone on each side and pull the repeaters on to the new row. Thumbs up so other people can see.

  • i built it block-for-block like you, but with soul sand, and that block in the middle of the lower booster rack, i had no problems...?

  • Wouldn't it be better to build booster rings out of soul sand to have more rings?

  • outstanding vid, man. i tried to make one but i used the first wiring option you showed. worked like a charm until i accidentally blew my cannon to pieces xP

  • You did the guards on the north and west side :P

  • Guys, if your doing this in 1.8 or 1.9 replace the guard rails with Fence gates on every side, that way your completely safe and if u want to go in you can by opening the gates

  • i saw the sneak peek and my mind was blown

  • you has a gained a subscriber... :)

  • nice job on your cannon wat ever u do do not doubt your self

  • Awesome tutorial !

If you wanna get REAL REAL geeky and expand the hell out of the more complex AND-gate based timer circuit, replace the levers with buttons and hook up each button to it's own T flip-flop.

    Hell yeah.

  • Making one of these in the nether is realy good for fending off ghasts :D

  • 38:31

  • Does it work with signs insted of ladders?

  • Why have this? Who would atack you?

  • they end up leaving in the ground. Having the diamond along with the square would make it a much more consistant circle of explosions since the tnt blocks will be much closer to eachother when they do go off. I'd love to see you do this if you can figure it out.

  • I started working on this myself while watching the video and it got me thinking about something, would it be possible to add a second ring of tnt to be launched along with the first, but instead of it being a square it would be a diamond? Basically looking down from the top it would end up being an 8 pointed star of tnt. The reason I thought of this is because with the one square of tnt, the farther away from the cannon they get the tnt themselves get from eachother kind of scattering the holes

  • Mine worked but then the tnt scattered around in the bottem and it blew up the bottem....

  • Overkill is underrated.

  • 4 People Got Their Ass Blown Up!

  • @Etho, with pistons here you could use a ring of those to push the boosting tnt one block closer to the missiles.

  • @JVincent97 It will blow up if you set your delays very low or very high. It is important that you build your cannon like I do in the tutorial. Watch the whole tutorial because I show later that TNT behavior with slow sand was unknowingly changed in a patch. The cannon works for me. I am not using a special version of Minecraft that has different physics than yours. If your cannon is blowing up, it's because you built it different or you are setting your delays wrong.

  • @abeln8r Hey man. That's not cool. Please don't be mean to Etho like that. He's just trying to show us how to build this cool 360 cannon.

  • @abeln8r Your attention and listening comprehension skills are what "sucks". It's always a good idea to watch an entire tutorial video before posting a negative comment if you are having trouble building the thing. Otherwise you might make yourself into a fool. =p

  • @EthosLab why would you post a video with a method of the cannon that will not work you should of deleted that part for some reason i think abeln8r did have the right to say that

  • @belluln8r It's a flaw with the tutorial. I discovered late while making the tutorial that the way slow sand interacts with TNT was changed in a recent patch. The choice was either to redo a large portion of the tutorial, which would take a lot of extra time; or show, explain, and correct the cannon design mid tutorial. I chose the latter.

I also thought it would be a good idea to make a point of the change because I didn't want people copying my Nether Cannon which uses the slow sand method.

  • When you said "why would you do this, you cant see your target" or something along those lines. I thought of me randomly firing it and thinking what some1 would think, if their base got randomly blown up

  • this will really help if notch adds zombie outbreaks :D

  • does this work as of 1.7? mine wouldn't set off the tnt

  • @4n0nym0us100 you now ned to light tnt with fire... :(

  • Clouds always move towards North

  • @DenisPB27 It's been discussed before, it's actually both. Both ways of pronouncing "lever" are considered correct according to dictionaries.

  • @DenisPB27 actually theres 1 'e' so ethos was saying it right

  • @DenisPB27 Maths*. You really don't want to subscribe because of one word's pronunciation?

  • @DenisPB27 everyone i know pronounces it like ethos

  • @DenisPB27 you complain about the pronunciation of lever, then spell maths as math...

  • @DenisPB27 So petty.

  • @DenisPB27 Wow Your stupid, You wont Subscribe Because You dont like how he Said Lever?

    Shitass.

  • it works for 1 booster for me but when i use the second it just explodes the whole thing

  • nice tutorial! i followed it exactly twice and it blew up in my face twice! good job! you suck!

  • @JVincent97 you obviously did it wrong if it works perfectly for etho

  • @nathantomfarrell did he shoot the first version with the simple wiring? NO. now shut up and leave.

  • @JVincent97 you must have had the delay too long, take that into consideration

  • @JVincent97 Two things, did you build it identical down to every block placement (As per the end of the tutorial) and were you on SMP. Oh yeah... one more thing. Just out of curiosity, how can Etho "suck" when 38,000 odd people just watched him demonstrating the cannon WITHOUT it blowing up in one's face? :)

  • Ethos i got a question, i made this 360 cannon exactly the way you did with the variable timer system and if i put the delay more than 16 ticks the boosters will explode first and my cannons will just explode on the base

  • i got a question.

you can 'set' the delay what happens when u add alot and when u dont add to the base delay at all?

    :)

  • I made one. Out of DIAMONDS

  • @Krimarieable I hear they shoot off with blue streaks.

  • But will it blend?

  • hey ethos what happens if you place blocks on the corners of the cannon? you know where you placed tnt on the corners and it shot straight up?

  • you should make it auto-reload using pistons!

  • My head hurts! -_-

  • r u kidding me i dont have a back up and i only watch it ones :(

  • Great job and fun to watch. Must try that out!

  • Does more delay make it shoot farther?

  • @shadow49992 I believe it changes the angle at which the TNT is fired.

  • Comment removed

  • ALSO. I'm going to build it in my LP :D

  • you sir, get a favorite :3

  • Hey Ethos, couldn't you place AetherImp's Variable Timer, the Wiring and repeaters and such, ABOVE the cannon's operator deck like in line with Booster Rack 2 or even above that a little, and have a redstone spiral staircase running down to the timing levers?

Or would that add too much delay?

  • @BetaSolution Yes you can. I did this with my 360 Nether Cannon. It is however, more difficult to build it above.

  • i build this in the middle of my castle, i messed it up and.. well... lets just say.. i blew up my walls of my castle because it didnt shoot far enough, LOL oh well

  • Call me gay but this guys voice is fucking soothing!

  • @linklovezelda

    Gay ;P

  • @megamanx1291 Yes my minion, do as I say!

  • @linklovezelda

    Sorry sorry!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @linklovezelda it also very monotone though, if u turn on captions, most of his words match

    NOT SAYING ETHOS IS BAD

  • I want to build one of these into each side of a fortress :D

  • Wow i seriously love u thats like the most amazing thing evar!

  • ohhh....omg i missed a step in your tutorial and got a TNT block on top of another in the booster rack....it ruined all my work =[

  • oh dang it..xD

  • @snati4 Mad bro?

  • I followed what to do EXACTLY to prevent the cannon from blowing up and the TNT still gets stuck. Why?

  • Wow!I will definately make this cannon, but first I will make that variable timer, see every detail of how it works(I don't want to see your tutorial,I want to do it the hard way =P) and mabye try to come up with a new idea based on that! Thanks for the tutorial!!

  • Can't you use signs instead of ladders? And just make 3 blocks next to the ring around the TNT then place signs on them?

  • @GamerG0d1337 You can't use signs.

  • @EthosLab you do know etho that the clouds move north right

  • mine blow up :/

  • You have the most active subscribers ever.

  • Quick tip for direction - Clouds always travel North. Makes it heaps easier to figure things out as there are always clouds in the sky.

  • @EthosLab what I mean by that is by making towers above each "circular" corner of the storage room.

  • @EthosLab Also, you should (for aesthetic/possibly functional purposes) make smaller "circular" towers above each storage too

  • @EthosLab Etho, this is the LONGEST video you've posted... It's great! I love watching your long videos of Minecraft (and Terraria, but you've not made another episode in quite some time), and the LP is amazing. Going from an EATS road under the sands all the way to an architectural Masterpiece (minus the giant passive mob system, but you should make a tower with the same parameters leading up from storage all the way to the spawning pad). Keep it up! I'm loving all the MC LP/Tut vids!!!

  • I made one, and its fucking awesome ;D ;D ;D

    thx etho !!!

  • At around 14:00 to 14:20 you explain the function of ladders (decreasing the fall time of TNT) but would it work with signs? Because signs can stack on signs so you could fill the corners.

  • @wasssail but they signs wouldn't decrease the fall time of the tnt, they are the same as an empty block, but you can't place things there... i think, they would stop you from miss clicking though

  • it doesnt work im smp ? D:

  • 29:20 thats rude....you should have picked up the phone :D

  • north is where the clouds are going to

  • ehm... thats south... XD if you face North then East is in your right

good that you did good the second time

  • 1:21 he is looking at his stub legs

  • this is great but i want another harvest moon vid.... i would say its too long between them..... i want you to go back and forth between minecraft and harvest moon

  • I don't use water, I use portals!

  • 16:30 you are an idiot etho, (sarcasm sarcasm)

  • @Randonmess ya i fiewfearffrfgy6juik

  • 46:50-46:56 I know you said this off but to me, it kinda sounded like piss off.

  • The bigger delay system looks like it would be best for cannons set into the sides of mountains, since it partially blocks your view.

  • you fail at trying to fail.. lol

  • @EthosLab you are a genius!!!!!

  • Etho, Clouds Float North!

  • I will use C4 from plasticcraft!

  • @SuspiciousLawnMower to aim at multiple targets

  • Could you make a tutorial episode for your old boat dispenser? Back when it way Beta 1.2 I made one of those and it was great, but I really miss it. A tutorial would be greatly appreciated.

  • 29:25 phone rings

  • My world is filled with etho inspired creations.

  • 47 minute video?!

    D:

  • did you have this saved so u didn't have to rebuild after every failure?

  • Hey Etho, I noticed that you like sandstone. But, in the cannon, you used stone half-slabs - While that can have a nice variation and color scheme, you can also make sandstone half-slabs. I find them great for things like fountains and stairs. Just to let you know. :)

  • war canon idea- fires creepers inside enemy bases =)

  • hehhehehe, noooooo :D::D:D

  • Threre is a telephone ringing in the background at 29:11 :-)

  • *shoots shots in all directions from cannon*

    *goes back to storage room*

"OH NO, WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE?!!"

  • sun goes down in the South in Minecraft...

  • @mcnabb4mvp06 The sun and moon operate like they do on Earth - East to West. Clouds go North.

  • you my good sir... are an idiot (you said so yourself =)

  • Etho, the clouds go north, just in case you wanna know ^^

  • isnt the delay in ticks, not torches?

  • @xxSweetravepartyxx He calls them Torch delays so as not to confuse them with game ticks, because 1 torch delay, or redstone tick, is 2 game ticks

  • Would you mind doing a speedbuild of this, or maybe just speed a video of yourself building it? I'd really appreciate that, because I don't always have much time, and I could still follow along with a sped up version.

  • ooooooh, what do these buttons do??

  • do you use the razer mouse that has the numbers on the side? you switch items with such ease.

  • @oldman32123 sometimes he uses his xbox 360 controller using a script on the windows, not sure what it's named though, just search on it ^^ :)

  • @oldman32123 use your brain please! You can use the numbers on a Keyboard to switch items.

  • @CreeperSaysHi i realise that, but you dont hear a button press when he changes items and he does it even faster than using the keys. it usually takes a bit longer when going for higher numbers.

  • 29:10 your phone is ringing!

  • Helpful tip: When making the second floor of the cannon, switch off smooth lighting. The upper floor will cast a shadow on the lower floor making lining it up easier

  • in 47 minutes i can watch a Lost episode, so... imma do that

  • @theclipreaper Lost Sucks, hard

  • @CreeperSaysHi U suck...but anyway, i thought the same before i started watching the show, FROM THE START

  • I made your cannon, the same way. But one of the boosters from the second ring often falls onto the first booster ring. I have the slow sand but it still falls.

  • the soul sand doesnt stop the TNT from landing on the edge of the sandstone for me..

  • @kingoffma did you watch the whole video? He later realizes that mistake and fixes it.

  • Good thing it's breakfast :D

  • Don't be sorry for the mistakes Etho. It wouldn't be Etho's LAB without the experiments and mistakes would it?

  • Sorry Etho, but North is the direction that clouds travel to, not from. ;) That's also more useful than tracking the Sun/Moon, since you can't always see it (or well, at noon/midnight). Though you still have to remember NESW so you don't balls up the rest of the directions when the Sun isn't visible.

  • I tried to make this cannon on a multiplayer server, but I keep having problems loading the booster above. I made it like yours with the guard around, but the odd times the TNT lands on the blocks anyway.

Ofcourse it could be that it's because of it being multiplayer, so at the moment I'm mostly only using the 1 booster to fire.

  • Etho LOOOOOOOVES his sandstone :S

  • ahh good ol' minecraft and your physics, i love how you can get many buckets of water from just two

  • 14:47 Long range artillery, several people could coordinate these shots by using coordinates. Let's say someone says "I have a large target around x:2250, z:310" the cannon operator could then base his shots off of the cannon's coordinates, the size of the target, and the target's coordinates, and if they want to be really precise a drawn graph. This way you can take out things from further than you can see. This is of course only practical in SMP.

  • at time 26:33 when he said funktion it sounded like he said fucktion hehehe lolz

  • 4:10 etho made it 13 blocks high (not including sandstone)

  • I built mine in the air! Shot creepers in the face! :D
