cliff is a little bit overrated, when people says he is the best bassplayer.

he was not the best bassist but he created his own style of playing it and he is the only one who has been able to play it. and that's amazing, he brought the bassguitar to a new level. but sadly he died and no-one have ever learned it. that is why he is a legend, you gotta give him credits for that.

i will say that harris is the best bassplayer. cliff could play just as fast as harris but harris gets the best sound.

I think that cliff burton is a good bass player ( and I'm definitely not a better player than he is) but I don't like his playing style and I don't think that it fills the gap that is usually filled by bass players. He simply plays guitar on bass and doesn't create any groove or rhythm to the music. When I think of good bassists I think of guys like Flea, Victor Wooten, or Marcus Miller because they know how to keep a groove and separate themselves from guitar players.
