  • Whoa! That makes a huge difference. I really want one. If anybody knows if these are ok for my BMW 330ci 2004 please give me some advise. Thanks in advanced.

  • @rlp951 yeah man i have a 2010 Jetta 2.5L with a manual cutout its basically the same thing as this but instead of electronically oppenning it i needa hand open it or close it whenever i want to. My car stock sounds like a blow dryer-_- now with the cutout its sounds like an R8 ( Im not exagerating ill post a vid) its back fires make me jiz every time.

  • I dont get the stupid "backpressure" comments... running a 1200rpm idle on a 2.0l car your crank is turning 20 times per second. on a 4 banger 4 stroke car this translates into moving 20l (or 20 000 cc (cm3)) of air/gas PER SECOND. Coming out of a 2.5" diameter pipe, there is no way you can ever not have back pressure.

  • @atreyukicks you've forgot to take into account that there is a throttle plate severely limiting the amount of air entering the engine unless your at full throttle. Not to mention restrictions from casting differences in the heads or short cam duration. You can't expect to completely fill a .5l tube through that tiny little tube in the head. You can't even expect each cylinder to get a equal amount of air....

  • what did this cost to put in?

  • is it air tight or can you hear an exhaust leak?

  • @PIZMORIDERS if it was air tight it would explode o_0

  • @JDM4LlFE haha your right if thats a week cover. i guess what im getting at is can you hear an exhaust leak?

  • @JDM4LlFE no it wouldnt, it would go out the alternate route wich is the muffler

  • wtf @ 0:17 lol

  • There's something gorgeous about the way those boxer engines sound. Absolutely wonderful.

  • where do you get that Have an sti....

  • im a smog tech in ca and it is legal in ca if u put it after the cat

  • @mexpinoy209 a gutted cat ;) lol jk

  • yeah i dont think that cutouts on turbos or cars that are running rich is a good idea at all.

  • the best sound

  • I love it. I'm doing this to my Mazda 6S when I finish the twin turbo kit this spring. Still won't sound nearly as nice those Boxers.

  • holy hell i love it.....im buying one

  • Gorgeous sound!!

  • someone on my car forums had bits of his catalytic converter break through a few rod bearings and end up in the oil pan from too much back pressure. ended up having a whole new motor put in under warranty.

  • im gana get it for my wagon, with a 4 inch downpipe

  • probably the nastiest sounding 4 cylinder i have ever seen!!!! the cutouts make the car man, shit's nice!

  • just ordered one for my sti :)

  • Fucking sweet, I just ordered one for my 350z. will post a vid when its instaled.

  • @SeizureBassist. Okay that's a great thing to be reminded of! Thank you as that completely slipped my mind. Having kids and other things on the mind makes me forget about things like extreme heat and wires! LOL! Well I guess I'll go her smogged and then install it. Was it difficult to install?

  • Someone might have asked this, but will this still pass smog? I live in CA.

  • If a smog tech sees it you will automatically fail. If they don't who knows.

  • @SeizureBassist. If I can hide it then they won't know. Question though. I've checked almost every inch under my STi and dang it, I can't find a place to hide it! So with that, my question is or if anyone else here can answer it, is there a better and more concealed place for me to hide this?

  • @katanaburner It would probably be easier to just get your vehicle smogged and then install it. There isn't alot of places you can put it because the heat will destroy wiring etc.

  • wouldnt the cut offs send the exhaust fumes back to the engine resulting in power loss?

  • why?

  • No because the turbo compresses the exhaust gas and pushes them out. Thats how it also creates the extra hp. It's all about the turbo, naturally aspirated cars have problems when running with open headers.

  • absolutely not. The turbo compresses the air and forces it through the engine and then forces it out from the headers and through the exhaust. The cutout is a direct path the bypasses the rest of the exhaust system. And with science in play, any force whether it be air, water etc will always take the path of least resistance. And in this case it is through the cutout and increases air flow and hp.

  • I'd hate to imagin if the switch went bad while on a road trip :(

  • thats where a hammer comes in handy :)

  • Huinya

  • That is badass

  • Man this video just doesn't do the sound in real life any justice. These cars with the cutout just sound AMAZING. I have an 03 WRX and with that cutout open it sounds like a damn drag car not to mention you get a good little hp boost.

  • no see if its closed its the stock exhaust, open bypasses the oem muffler. there is no extra back pressure with this setup

  • its still stock exhaust you just put this on when you don't want the loud exhaust sound all the time. Its good for when you got girls in the car and they complain about the loud exhaust I had that problem alot in my panther

  • are you serious? the only thing that might happen would be to burn a valve but only if you are putting it around town or idling in traffic.

with forced induction and WOT, a cut out is actually beneficial. the collector makes all the back pressure you need.

  • i'm assuming that by collector, you mean turbo?

on a turbocharged engine, less back pressure is better. ideally, you'd have as little piping as possible before and after the turbo.

  • doesn't matter, less piping = more responsive turbo

  • @AWJFunk dont know who told u that but there wrong if turbo has no back presure there is no torque i have a full 3inch hks exhaust when i run open down pipe i loos all my torque.

  • @mk3supraturbo Yeah. Kids on here are...KIDS. They think "Oh it sounds cool to hear the turbo thru the exhaust cause theres no back pressure!" You couldn't be more right! Thats why you have to be careful when choosing an exhaust, BTW HKS makes a fucking sweet setup for 04-07 STi.

  • @mk3supraturbo

well there are exceptions to every rule but generally speaking, the lower the pressure behind the turbine, the eaiser it will be for it to turn. the more the turbo turns the more air is forced into the intake. of course if you don't tune for that, you would likely lose torque because the ecu wil see a more air than it expects and pull timing.

Tuned and managed correctly however, less backpressure should be beneficial in a turbocharged engine.

  • And boost creep if you're not tuned for it.

  • @AWJFunk correct we built a ls/vtec b series and put a t3 60-1 on it and we gained about i would say clost to 30 whp if not more by just removing the stock exhaust off and letting it run just the 3 inch down pipe. First run with a stock 6 spd ls1 ss we pulled 2 to 3 car lengths next day we took exhaust off and pulled bus lengths the car was a beast with the restrictive exhaust on it.

  • if its true...than this ITEM is good for HONDAS!!!... since honda engines requires back pressure right?..and for those KIDS that have straight pipe (no cat or resonator) this CUT OUT is good since it puts the back pressure back?

  • Dude, no 4 stroke engine requires backpressure...

All an exhaust cutout is is a shortcut. Allowing the exhaust gasses to escape before they have to travel through the full factory (or even aftermarket) exhaust. the end result is more power, better engine response, and an intense sound.

  • ...while being able to switch to stealth...its an awesome concept

  • Definitely an awesome concept, it's a pity they're specifically illegal in GA. Thankfully, GA laws are extremely vague on volume levels, so long as the exhaust sticks out the back, or sides (no axle dumps), and even that's not heavily enforced if it sounds good.

  • yeah i mean i wouldn't run straight pipes anywhere...your bound to get pulled over...id save this for the track and close that valve on the road

  • They dont require backpressure but you can also have weird things happen with no backpressure.

  • @frosty9595 Almost every car with a turbo makes it's own back pressure...

  • @Dieselboy350 Lol yea kinda forgot about that.

  • @frosty9595 like what?

  • @ceelm burnt exhaust valves... hard cold starting.... long engine warm up... on fairly stock street cars I have even seen silly things like egr codes

  • @frosty9595 i have obd1 so that should not throw a code for me I think? but for the most part does not seem like to many cons.

  • @Piro42

true. and even more so on a turbo car. the turbo is all the backpressure you need.

  • they are designed to have no back pressure otherwise they would be useless don't you think the manufacturers would of thought of that?

  • fail

  • i have a 3" straight pipe

would i see big gains or minimal?

  • I don't understand how that one is working. When it is closed where is the exhaust going? I get the open part but not the closed part. Explain please?

  • it's going out the muffler... A cutout is a split in the mid pipe (?) and one pipe is cut out right there and one goes down to the axle back. kind of like a Y shape

  • ok see that pipe going back that is the normal exhaust. the cutout is a extra piece that lets more exhaust flow resulting in more horse power. Understand i tried to make it so its easy to understand.

  • for all those wondering about cats: if you do this and replace the cat (its on the down pipe) then you'll need to have a tune to make the cars computer ignore the fact that there is no cat preventing a CEL and allowing you to pass a non inspection emissions test all the time

  • ya, if you don' t know that and go catless then your a dumb ass.

  • you have much to see in life then

  • You could also, just leave the cutout closed for a given time and it will go away ;)

  • is that connected after the downpipe? what brand? thanks im installng mine today..

  • I have an electric cut out on my subaru and they sound AWESOME! Just make sure to get a good quality made one otherwide they start to leak after a while.

  • Cutouts replace the cats

  • "Oh, hi, i'm a STi"

  • HAHAHA! Awesome

  • Is the cut out before the cat or after?

  • It replaces the cat.

  • what electric cut out is that?????

  • it looks like a racereadyperformance cutout, i have a pair on my car and they work great! I know qtp makes a replacement pipe you just bolt in.

  • Do want!

  • i just ordered my cutout, and was wondering how it would sound, this sounds way better than i expected, thanks for the video!

  • my friend had an old 92 subaru and we cut the exhaust off it was insanley loud for that car...i could just imagine this in person

  • so is the seperate pipe a weld on?

  • That is nasty. I love it.

  • Wow i love cutouts i have one on my 79 trans am that i inherited from my dad for working so hard on the car can you say a sweet deal but you have no idea how great cutouts sound un till its on a true 5.7 ltr V8 oh yah thats an ear orgasm

  • when it closes' where to the fumes go, and does the rest of the exhast pipe just hang there???

  • It goes through the normal exhaust when shut.

  • DMH makes the best cutouts, they all have a 4 year warranty. Quicktime sucks

  • How much is this????

  • thats nice, this is the fastest cutout ive seen.

  • Dude that is soo cool bro. But did you put the cutout on with the stock exhaust? Or did you put an exhaust system then put the cutout as well? I have a subie too, I was thinking of putting this on as well. Have any suggestions? Thanks bro.

  • what is the brand on this thing?

  • go to dmh performance

  • where did u get it this cut out valve?and how much?thnks

  • what all is needed to make this work?

  • is your switch a momentary switch or is it a set open/ close? otherwiose how do you know your fully open?

    btw awesome sounding car

  • My car backfired a lot, so the plate that pivots bent and leaked within 6 months.

  • Good to know. Thanks for the followup post.

  • @ReverendAlfie that sucks but it sounded sick is there another alternitative valve that wont leak ?

  • I hear these leak, how long have you had it ? I wouldn't mind replacing it, say. every 2 years

  • haha!! thats cool as shit ive heard about cut off but never seen it sweet vid
