I need some help. I'm trying to insert an AVI file into my Word document and it says "The program used to create this file is AVIFile. That program is not installed on your computer. To edit this object, you must first install a program that can open the object." But outside of word it plays fine (using WMP) and online I can find little to no info on AVIFile, and I think it might be a program for linux, not windows? Please help! It's for a college class.
when i want to insert a .avi, the "insert>object>create from file.." inserts only an Icon with its file name. it is not as the same as shown in your video. double clicking the icon will open up the default media play. but what i want is playing the avi within MSword. i'm sure i didn't have the "Display as icon" checked.
when i try to insert again with "Display as Icon" check, it just inserts a more square-ish icon.
Hello, There is a few possibilities on why that might be happening. The first is that the object (avi) was "Create New" instead of "Create From File". The more likely cause is that the "Display as icon" checkbox within the "Create From File" tab is checked.

Can you insert the video file in word and send it to a friend and they too will see the video once they open the document on their system?
If thats possible,
