  • That certain sound...I remember lots of live shows 84-89 or so when they had it going on (if you saw them then, you know). Loved all of the rest since then too, but something was special about the simple, lyrical, powerful and affecting songs on Chronic Town, Murmur, Reckoning, Fables of the Reconstruction and Life's Rich Pageant. I liked or loved Green and all the rest up to Collapse into Now, but for me, the first five were the essence of R.E.M.

  • Later when they bought their own individual houses Michael and Mike each bought a house that share the same back yard. As far as I know they have never sold either house for this exact reason. Cool to walk out in your backyard and there is your best friend and band mate!
