I think the girl was trying to say that the German people suffered too. She's right. There have been plenty of experiments in the realm of social psychology that prove its not that German people were bad people, they were manipulated. It could have been any people it could have as easily been that the Jews killed the Germans. The reason the Germans killed the Jews is that the Jews held a high quality of life and were and still are stingy. So the Germans were angry making them malleable.
Their quality of life was significantly higher than the other Germans. They were the moneylenders and that's why Hitler went after them. He saw them as oppressive and at fault for the pain and suffering of the other Germans. Not to excuse the holocaust... That would be insane, but, I think the girl was trying to say-- Before being rudely interrupted is that Germans suffered (given they were condemned to poverty not murdered)at the hands of the Jews for decades before the holocaust
