  • Could you tell us how to do some Chad Smith ghost notes, like the ones in Can't Stop?

  • Thanks mate!

    Greetings from England :D

  • i got it man,thanks 5stars for you,GOD bless

  • Thank you very much!

I am glad the video helped you out, and good luck with your playing :D

  • best ghost video I've found so far. now I play intermediate stuff but I just felt like looking around xD

  • Oh, Thank you :D

I am pleased you liked it. Have you checked out the part 2 for this? it is a bit more challenging, and may give you a few ideas?

Thanks again, i appreciate the kind words.

  • As usual your a great help to me. you present material in a way that is easy to understand.

  • Thank you very much mate :D

It means a lot to me when one of my videos has helped someone! Nice to hear you can understand my English accent too lol.

  • Hey mate. That is some pretty cool beats you've showed there. How long did it take to get the accent notes. Thanks for the video it has taught me something new.

  • Thanks for the comment dude.

I can't really remember how long it took me to get my ghost and accented notes to a fairly good standard.

It takes a while though, because you may find you can do one or the other but not ghosts and accents played in the same beat.

It is something that i am still learning and always will be : )

I am really pleased, you got something from the vid, it makes it worth while, instead of the usual hateful comments.

    Thanks mate.

    -Dan.

  • thanks for the cool beats mate.

  • No probs man.

Its nice to know someone enjoys them :)

Normally i just get a load of bitchy comments that i delete lol.

  • im going to try that:) cheerz

  • hello mate! nice video about the little naughty quiet ones that are so hard to play properly.. black panther snare, isn't it? and meinl byzance hihats? are you copying me? :) i guess we are both fans of meinl and mapex! cheers, great video! keep posting, we have lots to learn! (i'm of to see no2:)

  • OI! i am not copying anyone!

You can't say anyone is copying on quality products like these

    :D

i guess it is a good educated guess!

I had a few requests for the ghost notes videos, so i decided to do them.

You won't learn off me mate! you should be doing these vids!

  • hi its hannah w here. i tried doing the ghost notes but they still sound like accents!!!!!! but i will keep trying over and over again.lol

  • HI HANNAH!

Just keep plugging away... It will all make sense in the end, so yeah, "keep trying over and over again"

Even though it does sound wrong ;)

  • kk. oi thts my sayin get ur own! lol!:p

  • I can't help it! yours are so good!

Every drum beat is a repetitive ostinato.

ie; just do it over and over...

My saying shall be "Just keep going"

    GO ON!

    -Dan.

  • lol. errrrrrrrrrrrrr i shud know wot ostinato means from lessons at school cus they repeat it every single lesson bt i still cnt remember wot it means! lol! im abit confused about the beat on youtube ive been tryin bt i cnt do this one soooooooooo i tried summat different which was do the triplets on the stool with the accents and gohst notes. u might not understand wot i jst said but i will tell u 2morrow! seeya. han

  • great idea..simple but effective, thanks!

  • no probs man.

a few people asked me about exercises on ghost notes.

check out the second part of this with slightly more difficult beats on.

  • THANK YOU. I have been looking for exercises to improve my ghost notes but nobody seems to care about them! Haha do you ever play ghost note doubles because I see that quite often.

  • yes my man.

Ghost notes part 2 uses doubles in the patterns.

A few people asked me about how to develop ghost notes, so i decided to make a couple of videos to help them out.

    Thanks for the comments.

  • LOL! how very dare you!

    DOUBLE paradiddle my fellow drummer!

what do i owe you in lessons now?

    my weeks worth of pride???

  • ...I need about three- fiddy.

    :D

    Had to say that.

But back to this video, it was really useful.

I think your idea of incorporating 16- notes into this practice makes it really effective.

    Need to test this out.
