i really fuckin like the sound he gets. it sounds like a big ass baritone horn almost. what a fantastic soloist, and with his orchestral history in LA. one of the best all-around tubists of all time

I remember watching this show. At the close when the Tonight Show Band was playing out the show, Doc gestured that he would like to try Roger's horn. After playing on it a few moments with a very puzzled look on his face, you could see Roger lean over to Doc and mouth, "It's an F tuba."

I have a recording of horn solos with Froydis Ree Wekre, the great Norwegian horn player, and Zita Carno is her accompanist there, IIRC.
