If everyone is wondering why he is getting such good sustain its because hes using EMG magnetic pickups. Thats not exactly what they are called but they hold sustain forever until u let go of the note :P

if you want to know how to get his sustain, you need active pick-ups, they are only for metal so be sure thats what you want, its what metallica use aswell :)

the first sweep that he shows ive been trying that a lot and i cant get it like i know how to do it and play it but i cant get the sweep on the way back up and it iritates me cause i know i can do it. any suggestions other thatn practice?

does it matter if you hammer on? I just alternate pick the 17-12 will it affect the appregio if I dont hammer on? great vid

no it wont, unless u start the 17 fret with an upstroke then u obviously tend to down stroke the 12th fret and the rest u would have to use down strokes so it might slow u down a bit

the thing with sweep picking is that you dont have to use alternate picking... but if you are comfortable with it, and its sounds good the go ahead. there are no rules!
