i saw janet on an MTV interview where the wjole show was dedicated to heryears before i saw her on Oprah. that's the one that sticks out in my mind. If you want to say it's her first big "sit down for an hour to be prodded about her brother and sex life" interview, that would be more accurate. But MTV was a major outlet at that time for the younger generation - the people that actually bought her album...it's the one that sold the most consequently (Janet.).

I feel that Janet and Michael are both perfectionists and that was probably something that their awful dad drilled into them at a very young age. It is great to be good at what you do, but to be "perfect" is somewhat dehumanizing. It can really eat you alive, I believe, always trying to do better the next time out. I don't recall any interview where Janet sat for a whole hour. Let's face it, Oprah is as big as it gets. And like Michael, at one point, Janet rarely made public appearances let alone gave an interviews. So, her interview with Oprah was a big deal and was heavily promoted. That's why I called it a major interview because it was.
