  • i hope the wow wow wow wow wow wow girl died.

  • why do people finish the statement with PERIOD???

i can't get this 'period thing'!!!

  • I would recommend this guy to any teenagers, students and/or ANYBODY. He is ONE OF THE GREATEST, and i do regret not hearing from him sooner; but i am also greatful for hearing from him now.

  • Your the man. Thank you for the words of inspiration.

  • I wish he'd tell me what to do in the hours I'm not wasting... just spend it studying? But eventually you can have all grades in the world right, but what then? THAT is what I would like to know...

  • @Lhumairrr Get all the grades in the world, and then get your masters, and then your phd, and ask this same stupid question again! The video totally went over your head, so I can see you have a LONG way to go! It's not just about grades, it's about whatever YOU want to do to become successful!

  • @stevenice85 Aha... Yesterday I figured out that I know HOW to become successful, but I just don't want to.. pretty lame but yeah

  • @takeontherocks stop being ignorant.

  • I ThinkPeople Are Taking Points of This Speech Too Literal. Use This More As An Outline

  • Yes we know money can’t buy love, but it can find you love. Same as to happiness and all the things money can’t buy.

The love of money is the root of all evil; however the love of making money (Hard-work) is the fruit of all success.

  • Eliminate!! all Fixed Cost(Rent, fixed bills) and leave Variable cost and we should be all billionaires# Financial/Management talks.

  • ur a legend!! he dos tink like me!!!! Time is money so value it, in a day we have 240hrs=£240… we use 8hr for sleep=£80, we use 9hr for work/school=£90, we use 10mins 2 eat=10p we use 20-30mins to shower=20p-30p, random things (shopping, clubbing) =5hr=£50, that all =£220.60p. This means we waste £30pounds (+-) everyday!

  • Real talk

  • i want to hear the rest of it =((

  • @tsunamiplayer3 it on the side real time cont'd

  • michael jackson? not a good example

  • @marcos20alves what are you talking about Michael Jackson is a great example. He is arguably the greatest entertainer to ever live. He's sold the most albums for a single artist in music history. He has albums that are arguably the greatest ever "Thriller" being one. MJ worked his ___ off....

  • @LDoubleUTelevision lol man,MJ turned out to be one of the most bizarre figures of show business, the guy changed his skin color, his hair, his face's bones, his nose, his chin, he slept with kids fancying he d be young forever. I like this guy on the video, but when it comes down to become "successful" lets have a broader idea of what success represents, its not about making money and sell things only.thts why i dont find Mj a good example. anyway thx for your reply mate

  • man this is whats up. I'm learning so much from this. Everyday i look for motivation and success stories and this is where God lead me. When you ask and seek you will find or be lead to it. I can never give up and this is why I search for this kind of material.

  • lol i love how the woman immediately stereotypes asian immigrants as rich (1:30). like she accepts that rich people are only asian. just like some white kids accept they can't run faster than black kids. sad.

  • I agree. it's culture conditioning. I lived in asia and been to alot of asian countries which mostly are extremely poor. Our ghetto's are paradise compared to ghettos in some of those countries. Most immigrants that come to america are determined to succeed because of their situation in their countries. Most of them can't afford to come here.traveling internationally is what we also need to do as americans as a whole to learn.

  • play salif keita - tommorow in the background it makes this speech 10x better

  • It's 2:21 am and this is the only thing keeping me studying. You're words are so powerful E.T. thanks so much for take the time out to put your words up on youtube.

  • What book!? I wanna go cop that asap!!

  • he sounds like john cena bruh

  • The day you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, you will be successful.

  • what a bizarre looking monkey

  • @etthehiphoppreacher i probably listen to this everyday

  • #thatawkwardmomentwhen he's talking about hours and you yell out YEARS! 6:00

  • @4:55 i think he was inspired by outkast's song lol

  • I have recently decided to pick up law to add to my Business degree and I have really be struggling to prepare myself for the workload that's coming. Your videos have really helped me to become motivated and really realize my priorities in life.

Thank you so much et. Love from Australia.

  • OHH man i needed this. Thank you man.

  • This man moves me.

  • real time wud be telling ppl the truth...not just lining up more braindead zombies for massa's system.

how about u motivate ppl with the truth???

peep da buddha, school yourself, forget whiteys ejimacashunz!

1.Thus is the Noble Truth of Suffering

2.Thus is the Noble Truth of the Origin of Suffering

3.Thus is the Noble Truth of the Cessation of Suffering

4.Thus is the Noble Truth of the Path that leads to the Cessation of Suffering

  • @sizzla123 how about u getting the fuck out of this country, going to africa and living there? Then, come back and let us all know how horrific the USA is. As ET says, you don't know pain. You mouth shit you've read from quota hired black professors who keep their jobs by guilting whitey. ET is man enough to take life and bend it to his will and not play victim. You claim you know "truth" but you know nothing. You are a spineless worm, not a man.

  • @Wickedashtray yawn!

lived in africa all my life.

you type like preeteen so i will go easy on your tardass.

    i bet your american right?

like america is NOT a cooperation.....fool...

    peace

  • @sizzla123 LOLOL, I type "like a teen"??? Should I repost the exact wording of the comment of yours I originally responded to? Further, if you don't live in the US, your words mean absolutely nothing. Odds are though, you DO live here and are just talking shit and hating on someone who actually has the guts to tell parasites like yourself to take responsibility for you and your community. I guess its easier to be a victim though....

  • @Wickedashtray you are boring, you boring me...stop being so boring.

    no substance.

i guess your ego just has to reply again so feel free...just stop being so boring.

this is no way to chat up a hot lady.

  • Eric Thomas is one of the greatest motivational speakers that has ever existed; this man was sent from God. PERIOD

  • What's the name of his book can someone please tell me

  • I just realized how much less time we have, because for most of us, our first 18 years is not even thinking about being successful. This first 18 years is 1/5 of the amount of hours that is available to us and we need to work even harder to be successful.

  • @ssimeond I'm 17 ;)

  • This is one of the BEST speeches that I ever heard.....

  • this just changed my life

  • Eric, when is the book coming out, and where can we buy it?

  • I like this dude, this shit motavated me

  • et man your videos alwayz in spire me im a young black man in college i relate to alot of this

  • KuttyKool, I am sorry you have been misinformed. Our history dates American captivity.

  • @etthehiphoppreacher How the hell have I been misinformed? Those people I named are real as you or me, they really walked the earth and did amazing things.... and they were also BLACK!

  • And yeah, I'm aware that Africans were enslaved here in the United States before the late 19th century, but so were the Slavic peoples (hence the name) in present day Hungary...does that mean that they don't look up to Leo Tolstoy? People who practiced Judaism were enslaved by the Egyptians... does that mean that they don't look up to Alan Greenspan? I think not, your argument is moot.

  • Okay, I'm sorry for posting multiple replies but this subject really gets me heated, I'm tired of black people blaming their negative circumstances on the cross their ancestors had to bear. If when you said "Our history DATES American captivity" you meant that it goes back even further than that then you prove my point even further. I could bring up the students from Greece who traveled to Africa in ancient times for knowledge and how they obviously found a "role model" in black folk.

  • @KuttyKool Listen the kind of people you are talking about can only be role models if you know who they are. You think you know everything don't you. You sound arrogant but try being raised by a drug addict or having a parent die on you. The #1 influence on any child is their parents. The 2nd influence comes from school. Try being at a poor school with no books and shitty teachers. If you came from the world he is talking about that smart mouth of yours would be singing a different tune.

  • @kiasophia08 If you have to know your role model then how do you explain my fascination with Thurgood Marshall helping me achieve in school starting in the seventh grade when I had never met him and he was in fact dead by that time? The biographies of amazing African-American men like him are just a library away for those too poor to purchase the books. As a matter of fact, a library book taught me when to properly use a question mark... Maybe you should pick it up before you try to lecture me.

  • @KuttyKool Idk about your smart comments. It is a fact the two biggest influence's in a persons life are the parents and teachers. Who took you to the library and what obstacles did you have to face to get there? No matter how simple you want to make it life is complicated and there are people who don't know Thurgood Marshall PERIOD! There are people who do but that is no comparison to what is in front of you everyday.

  • @kiasophia08 The answer is no one took me to the library, I went on my own. There are opportunities everywhere to learn, and only those who are cerebral enough to take advantage of these opportunities, whether poor or not shall prosper. One can make a million excuses for why he is not as wealthy, smart, or talented as his neighbor... but at the end of the day it is up to him to step up and do for himself, regardless of his past circumstances.

  • @KuttyKool You can talk down all you like. It does not make you better than me or anyone else. It does not make you the smartest person in this world. There are people who can correct your grammar and I could if I cared but I do not. This is not an english test. This is about him trying to help people who are unaware. There are people that are unaware and there are factors that keep them that way. I know this and I know the impact someone like ET can have on a young black kids life.

  • @kiasophia08 I never said I was any better than you as a person or that I was the smartest person in the world. I commented on the quality of your posts and I do feel that I have above average intelligence, but I know many people who are smarter than me. I seriously doubt that you could correct any of my grammar and even if you could, you have made some errors that I think stem from mere ignorance of the correct application of English in its written form.

  • Also, if these kids live such stressful lives, imagine what applying ET's words quoted from violent rapper 50 Cent that "sleeping is for those people who are broke," would do to their already hectic circumstances. I've been in higher education for five years and I couldn't imagine performing at a competitive level without at least seven hours of sleep a night.

  • @KuttyKool You do think you are better than other people. You do not look at the quality of my post. You are looking at grammar not thought. Your ignoring logic and clearly you don't have much of that. You are arrogant and you are an asshole point blank.

  • @kiasophia08 If I only look at grammar and "not thought" then how am I responding directly to every point that you make? My logic is quite sound or else I would have never been accepted into a prestigious school of law. Arrogant and an asshole I might be but you can never say I don't make a good argument.

  • @KuttyKool alot of the stuff that he is saying applies to ppl that r pursuing success without higher education. Thats a world where if you sleep you might miss out on your golden opportunity. The fact that your disecting thru very unneccesary observations in his talk, says alot about your character, because hes tapping on the same basic success principles as all the other succesful ppl speak on.

  • @RicoSWaters The fact that you didn't realize that he was addressing a class full of African-American COLLEGE STUDENTS coupled with your belief that sleep deprivation is a healthy choice for anyone trying to succeed says a lot about your intelligence, but who's judging here?

  • @KuttyKool There are people who do not have internet and cannot go to the library or have no interest. They have so many things that could be pushing them away from self education. Ignorance is still in you and it will be there no matter how many trips you make to the library.

  • @kiasophia08 Finally you cite a lack of interest in these children as a reason why they don't succeed. The only thing that could cause a person who once wanted to learn from getting the information by any means necessary is if they no longer want to learn. The ones who do not get the information and who are also of sound, intelligent mind just don't want it. Furthermore, of course I will never banish all ignorance from myself, but I sure can go to the library and try.

  • Also, I was educated by the public schools of Prince George's County, Maryland. "Google" it sometime and judge what supplementing your formal education consisting of "no books and shitty teachers" with library books and the Internet can result in by comparing the quality of my posts to yours. Furthermore, meditate on the fact that some of my teachers were more focused on bashing Halloween as a "devil-worshipping holiday" than actually teaching the subjects they were hired to teach.

  • @etthehiphoppreacher eh thats kinda ignorant saying asians are rich. people can be smart and hard working, not a country

  • @boab23 The asians that come to the US or canada and pay twice the tuition that US or Canadians pay are rich. He never said ALL asians are rich. pay attention to the message

  • @kennhypowers Ok so when did i say all asians are rich, i said asians and uh my parents came here from a different country and they didnt come here rich and only a small fraction of the asian immigrants are actually rich.

  • What the hell is the guy talking about we don't have 3 or 4 generations of role models?... dude Benjamin Banneker (1731-1806), Frederick Douglass (1818-1895), Sojourner Truth (1797-1883)... and many more

  • @KuttyKool I think that he was referring to within one's family

  • @2015ben Okay, my father a holder of bachelor's and master's degree and now a tenured government employee/civil servant. My grandfather, educated at an HBCU and rose to the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Military before becoming a supervisor for a factory for a worldwide organization and selling real estate and owning many successful businesses. My other grandfather, so renowned in the educational field that he has a hall in a college named after him. My black family is full of role models.

  • Broadly speaking, you experience is not one that is typical for the average black person in America (in terms of educational level within your family). I'm not trying to take away from your experience but I'm just stating facts (and so is @etthehiphoppreacher). I don't think that @etthehiphoppreacher is trying to teach young black Americans to use their circumstances as an excuse but rather opportunity to improve their predicament.

  • @2015ben Finally, a valid argument. I believe that what ET is doing is honorable, but if one of these kids were to really take all of his advice then they would be in a world of trouble.

  • @KuttyKool That is your family and that is why you went to the library. You will not understand what others have to deal with until you are in there position. The library did not teach you understanding, how to be humble, or empathy. You may think you are an accomplished person but you are a failure at being a human being.

  • this is real but i think that people in this world are so full of shit when they say they want to become sucessful specially women.

  • @manuelcolonsoto thats sexist and inappropriate. You certainly missed the point of this video. When he talked about asians, he's saying that it's not because they are smarter, but because they dedicate more time to be successful. And anyone can do that, even women. The people that are full of shit are those who categorize people and think negative. Aknowledge this man's information and use it for your own good.

  • Eric Thomas...I feel your fire! Continue empowering the youths, your work is being notice!
