never saw this one. had long been sick of happy days. i love how Chuck was never seen again and how the layout of the house changed. originally, you entered on the left and there was a separate dining room
This wasn't the last episode...... The last episode was "Fonzie's Spots", which aired in September of '84. This wedding episode aired only in May of '84.
And where is the moment Rachel watched on TV in Friends Pilot where the Priest was saying "We are gathered here today to join Joanie Louise Cunningham and Charles, Chachi-Chachi-Chachi..."??!!
Ron Howard HAS to be the best!! Not only did he come back to Happy Days after he left to be a director, but he came back for the final episode. He came back to numerous "Andy Griffith Show" reunion movies as well as reunion shows. He's done several Happy days reunion events! The guy has not and will never forget where he came from!!!! that's true class!
i hate that ABC spoiled the ending by airing held over episodes as "lost episodes". The same was done with Cosby spinoff, A Different World, and they are stil aired out of order in syndication.
Tuesday night had the greatest line up EVER on ABC. 8pm-Happy days, 8:30-Laverne and shirley, 9pm- three's company, 9:30- too close for comfort. Now we have Bachelor shows and fake reality shows, the world really is ending soon, wow.
@Zoras88 The priest was Al's twin brother Anthony. It was always a running joke, on the show, that the characters thought Al was "impersonating" a priest.
Made account just so I could post today. Sad to hear about Tom. Cried as I remembered right away Howard's toast at the end of the finale. For my generation this moment will be one that we will always think of when we think of Tom. Remembering his real-life tears, him turning to look at the cameras, us feeling like he was speaking directly to us. I went online when I heard, hoping I could find the heart warming scene. Tears again as I re-watched ;( Thank you Tom, you were a good Dad to us
Yes, even tho the show was on it's last legs and was really struggling, I still watched it all the time....I remember being about 12 or 13 when this episode came on. What really choked me up (badly) was Tom Bosley's toast to the audience thanking us for letting them be a part of our lives. It really was very touching. I saw later on that he had to to several takes before getting it right w/o breaking down.......thank you, Mr. Bosley, for being a father figure to so many of us...RIP.
The first year of this show was great. The Fonz was a cool aloof character, it had fifties cars and dress. By the third season is was just another show with no references to the time period or anything. And why were Marion and Howard always hanging out with their childrens' friends. LOL... to keep them in the script!
I remember watching this final episode of Happy Days when it originally aired in 1984 . As much as I couldnt stand it after its "jump the shark" moments, I still watched it faithfully & this final episode plus Howards toast, made up for all the "jump the shark" moments IMO. After this episode aired, its final one, I thought, "Wow. Its really over. No more Happy Days". As I watched the end credits roll, I knew right then and there that I was going to miss Happy Days. 25 years later, I still do.
I totally agree. Even though the show was on its last legs I still watched even though there was competition from newer shows like the A Team. I liked the A Team, but was a faithful Happy Days viewers. I taped Mr. T and friends and watched Happy Days. One of the things that amazes me is how well the cast got (and still gets along). That was part of its success. The cast and crew really cared about each other.
@Superbatfan Happy Days was pitted directly against NBC`s The A-Team on purpose, much like The Partridge Family was against CBS`All In The Family 10 years earlier.ABC sure has a good strategy as to how to kill off a sitcom.
notice how this quit being a period piece set in or around the early to mid sixities? gotta love the early eighties hair styles and ron howards stache.notice the clothing styles to -all eighties.loke they all just gave up
Thats because Tom Bosley demanded the series have more of an "80s look". The final season was actually going to be set in 1984 with walk ons by the likes of Gary Coleman, Hasslehof, Mr T and Sue Pollard.
I never saw it due to its " jump the shark " moments.

Apparently Tom Bosley goes out of character to thank the audience in this last episode.
Re this particular clip, the young lad standing near Fonzy looks like the actor who was one of the sons in THE HOGAN FAMILY.
