NFS Shift vs Grid Review

Grid is obviously the better game! It's driving physics are so much better than Shift's physics. Shift feels honestly like the arcade NFS games. The damage on Shift may seem more realistic, but in GRID, you can completely total cars. GRID's career mode is also better. Different types of racing, earning money, sponsorship, making teams, etc. just makes the career mode feel so rich and deep compared to earning stars to simply unlock cars in Shift.

I totally disagree with you on everything. The graphics on grid are way better. It has much better lighting effects and better looking scenery. The Ai in shift is pretty bad to it's almost generic while grid they actually fight back. And you really need to take off that blindfold, grids damage is clearly more realistic

You see, I totally disagree with you as everyone else below me do. NFS Shift's graphics from inside the car look nice yes, but you must understand that they are cars you buy normally and mod. However, GRID gives the stripped down, real racing interior you find in most cars today, not some fancy speedo. Even Codemasters themselves said they want to provide pure racing feel. Shift, however provide the feel of what you do when you buy a car and mod it to enter races.

Yeah well i just find that grids engine had way better graphics crashing pretty much everything kicks ass for a 2-3 yr old game the only thing is that shift you can modify the cars and the game play in/car view is alot more intense but when you think about it its not realy realistic ...its not like when you shift you sink into your seat like your driving a 54 caddie haha! both games kick ass i play both of em but i prefer grid! and the online kicks even more ass!! YEYAH!

Love those GRID graphics: that yellow haze and the tracks are real gritty looking. Damage is much better than NFSS too. Game play with GRID is much more challenging.

Where GRID stumbles though (and it's a biggie) is its interface with any kind of racing wheel I've used.

Im sorry , but im dissapointed with this review in some things. The crashes of Grid are way better and more realistic , a lamborghini crashing at 200 km/h like in the video of Shift will fly out and make shit the car , and the game modes of Grid is more complete (formula 1 , tuned , muscle races , destruction derby races , togue races , 24 h le mans, etc...). But, both games are great , Shift has better graphics and the cars are better detailed . Grid has more game modes and realistic drive.

dude,i played'em both...and i think that Nfs Shift is just TOO realistic. If you wanna see how's it like to be in the hot seat,shift if what's you're lookin' for.But if you wanna se what's it like to be in the hotseat and even have some FUN,grid is better.Also,in shift,didnt like at all that there's no variety of race types,there are only the classic races(time attack/race/drift) while grid is more various. Grid the better xD

Hey you say that in NFS Shift that *they just want to kill you* I think that in real life drivers can be very aggressive...after all in a real race you are the lead decision on whether your team gets money for a win so ofcourse they will do what they can to throw you off. If you really think that Shift is unrealistic try using a steering wheel and gas pedal with a forcefeedback the next time you play, besides NFS sat down with some of the top racers to do race analysis to make the game realistic

I have both games and they are both great, but on grid the only thing I hate is the speed, its too fast. Al the cars on grid go 0-100 in 1.5 sec :/

Grid is old, if you want to compare games compare Grid 2 and Shift (or the next EA title)

I like shift better

It's much easier to play (and win) using keyboard... so no frustration like in grid where I had to play each track 10 times just to get the hang of it.

Shift has a lot more cars, ant the interior is better... just like on a real thing, while in grid it's always boring race car interior.

In shift you always keep getting some points and stuff so it makes you feel like you're doing something even if you lose :P

Gd review but, i personally grid kills shift. Shift graphics r better, but grid does give it a run for its money and grid is 2 yrs older. Grid visual damage is way better than shift and on shift u cant total the car. the grid interface is so smooth and sleek and makes shift look chldish. AI on grid are fast and tactical and sometimes they spin off, theyre competetive and shift is just the normal "race on the line and nowhere else" AI.

@Nazzernator ok mate...u obvously don't know what ur talking about...Damage…ofcourse GRID is better,it kills SHIFt in that area, but damage isn’t everything,NFS Shifs cockpit is waay better…as well as that NFS Shift has something that no other racers really hve…the dynamic cokpit,that react to g-forces,it greatly increases the gameplay exp. Like how the cockpit shakes due to high wind resistance at extreme speeds,shift graphics also kill GRID,I really don’t think u’ve played both games

Grid runs smooth even on my third pc with a P4 GHZ3 with Radeon 3850 very well programmed.

and Grid is a lot cheaper now but imho the career is shorter.

I only played the nfs demo, but as visible on your clip the 'you cut the track' logic is quite flawed as you get that even when you actually fail to stay on the track and aren't actually cutting. It doesn't look like a bad game though. But Grid is king :)
