That's because that USA was founded and fought for by the US Army. The Marines began much later as a special division of the Navy... FACT- The Marines and the Continental Army are two completely different things!

For Afgan it's looking like the multicams are on the money because of the way water pools between the mountains and creates some what green farmlands, that and the mountains are moderatly vegitated.

Special forces arn't bound by the same rules of, say, infantry and other marines when they're on missions for some reason. The green berets also have beards sometimes. Disguise, maybe? I really dunno why.
