Im sure you are right. I have seen lammergeier do it in India with bones.

@steveavery77 - what was really interesting is that the gulls generally collected the mussels close to the sea, but brought them closer to land to drop them - there were more stones there to act as 'anvils'.  Thanks for commenting.
