The cheap houses like I buy are usually $15 to $30 or so, and usually half of that price after Christmas.

Hey nice village! I have a question, where do you get all the houses, did you make them? how are they all lit up!

Thanks. Purchased most of the buildings in the USA at Menards, WalMart, and Sam's Club. Each building includes a light which must be plugged in, so I hide the wires with fake snow, or just run them through a hole under each building.

beautiful! my husband and i are starting a christmas village with train this year...what train do you use and what set of village stuff?

Thanks. My train is described in the video info (Click more info above and to right). My houses are a hodge-podge from Sam's Club, Walmart, Menards, and a couple other stores. Just after-Christmas discount stuff ... nothing fancy. The train table is white foam insulation from Menards ... looks like snow. My '08 village is two trains and bigger. Should have a video up in a couple weeks. :-)

TIP: if you could, while the train was moving, sprinkle some powder over it to have a snow effect

Thanks! The lighting was tricky, as you probably know. With no extra light, the video was just too dark. Fortunately, the blue/purple light seemed to do the trick, giving the illusion of a moonlit night.
