It not only teaches the letter W; it teaches an important principle of comedy. Namely, it's funny when a simple, lowly character gets the better of a pompous, highbrow one. A cop falling down is a lot funnier than a toddler falling down. And so is a worm getting drenched by a walrus!

The walrus comes across as a real bully in this one. It's not like the worm insulted him directly, as in the fly and frog cartoon.
