What about Kincsem? Eclipse? Kincsem has a much better record than any of these horses. Raced in more countries also. None of these horses would even exist without Eclipse. Many of them have won the Eclipse Award - the premier award for horse racing in America.
A good video but the title should be The Best Racehorses of the USA, but good selection all the same but still alot of great horses left out like Makybe Diva 3-Time Melbourne Cup winner 2003.04,05 and the other horses mentioned below this comment.
@Eyevan73 . I agree... But I am sorry to me personally PHAR LAP will always be better than Makybe Diva. I have had heated arguments with my partner on this one. If you could go back in time and bring Phar Lap here and train him from the start the way she was. And with the weight for age fairness she had then i am sorry he would kick her tail. Try training her the way he was and race with weight like him and you would have a very different horse

@RuffianQueenOfRacing Rating Rufian with 10 races against fillies is a diservice to other great horses who had their careers cut short such as , Barbaro, Kuai King, Danzig, Graustark, Hoist The Flag, etc. No disrespect her potential was unlimited bu so was that of those I mentioned.

Interesting list - Forego is my life time favorite! Nice to see Risen Star; big horse that needed more time to fill out, if it had run as four year old I think we would be taking about on of the all time greats. Since this is a best in the world list (made in 2007) I would have liked to see Japan's Deep Impact and Australia's Makybe Diva. Check them out; Deep Impact w. rec. at 3200meters - held speed over distance better than any horse I've seen in years; Makybe Diva - mare - 3 Melbournes.

Best racehorse? Probably the mighty Zenyatta. Don't forget harness horses like Greyhound, Dan Patch and Hambletonian too. Also, Cardigan Bay was probably bigger than Phar Lap in New Zealand. Phar Lap flopped in the US, whereas Cardigan Bay kept on winning and became the first to win one million dollars, and that was in 1965!

She is doing the same thing, beating all comers and smashing records. Dan Patch had a Hollywood movie made about him and all sorts of things named after him. You can be sure the same will happen to Zenyatta. She is the horse of the century.
Sorry but best horse of the century went to Secretariat a long time ago, there will never be a horse like him. She didnt smash any records and by records i mean times. The only special race she won was the BCC with a time of 2:00.62, and she didn't even come close to Skip Away's record of 1:59:16.

RA is a great filly so is zenyatta but if u compare competition then RA wins she beat colts in the preakness and she won the mother goose in record time tht is faster than ruffian in tht race zenyatta wouldnt even come close im sry but id have to say RA just cuz of who she beat and what she has done as a three year old zen is 5 as a 3 yr old she could have never done what RA did

Horses have to be put in distance and surface to be evaluated.
The worlds greatest miler=Frankel.Greatest steeplechase= Red Rum.
If American horses come to the U.K and run on grass they may get stuffed.
as it has been proved in the past.

Red Rum was a racehorse who achieved an unmatched historic treble when he won the Aintree Grand National in 1973, 1974 and 1977, and also came second in the two intervening years. As well as his unprecedented record in the world-famous steeplechase (he fell only once in over 100 races) how can this grate horse not be in this video? lol.. u can look it up if u like no horse has come close to going the this Red Rum did.

He was foaled in 1965 and trained on the Southport sands by Ginger McCain. Red Rum won the 1973, 1974 and 1977 Grand Nationals and was runner-up in 1975 and 1976 - an unparalleled record.
Red Rum, died in 1995 at the age of 30 and is buried near the winning post at Aintree. This is his story, a tale of courage and determination. ?

it says horses of the world, but where are the australian horses, especially Phar Lap and Tulloch from the past and more recently Makybe Diva, the majority of these horses are American who raced only on dirt when Phar Lap won in both Australia and in Mexico

Interesting list - Forego is my life time favorite! Nice to see Risen Star; big horse that needed more time to fill out, if it had run as four year old I think we would be taking about on of the all time greats. Since this is a best in the world list (made in 2007) I would have liked to see Japan's Deep Impact and Australia's Makybe Diva. Check them out; Deep Impact w. rec. at 3200meters - held speed over distance better than any horse I've seen in years; Makybe Diva - mare - 3 Melbournes.

Phar Lap won 37 races from 51 starts, but in saying that consider this, he was notoriously slow to becoming great winning only 1 of his first 9 starts and not even placing in the other 8!!! the rest is history 33 from his last 35, and then theres the history many Americans don't know about, this horse was handicapped like no other horse in history, it was the entire racing commission against him, assassination attempts , ect i believe greatness also comes from longevity

Best racehorse? Probably the mighty Zenyatta. Don't forget harness horses like Greyhound, Dan Patch and Hambletonian too. Also, Cardigan Bay was probably bigger than Phar Lap in New Zealand. Phar Lap flopped in the US, whereas Cardigan Bay kept on winning and became the first to win one million dollars, and that was in 1965!

live. No. It is because she has won all 14 races, unparallelled in recent times. It is also the way she won the BCC. She is getting the sort of publicity and attention that Dan Patch did. She is doing the same thing, beating all comers and smashing records. Dan Patch had a Hollywood movie made about him and all sorts of things named after him. You can be sure the same will happen to Zenyatta. She is the horse of the century.

Sorry but best horse of the century went to Secretariat a long time ago, there will never be a horse like him. She didnt smash any records and by records i mean times. The only special race she won was the BCC with a time of 2:00.62, and she didn't even come close to Skip Away's record of 1:59:16.

runwildnfree. You must think that RA is a great one to be Horse of the Century. Everyone is entitled to a viewpoint. I personally think that Zenyatta is the best this Century and Dan Patch in the last one. I think Dan Patch was the first racehorse to have a film made about him.

RA is a great filly so is zenyatta but if u compare competition then RA wins she beat colts in the preakness and she won the mother goose in record time tht is faster than ruffian in tht race zenyatta wouldnt even come close im sry but id have to say RA just cuz of who she beat and what she has done as a three year old zen is 5 as a 3 yr old she could have never done what RA did
