Loved this tune. The DC5 weren't the Beatles but they were an essential part of the early British invasion, can't understand how they disappeared in the late 60's right off the charts. The singer, Mike Smith - great voice!, went on for a solo career for a long time. The early fan press, not rock press, used to do these hysterical battle of the bands issues and the DC5 was often matched against the Beatles as though they actually fought. What a joke.
@MilSepic60 : because by 1968-69 the musical taste changed to hard rock- psychedelia and DC5 like Gerry n pacemakers n many others simply couldnt follow the new trend
True. I'd forgotten Led Zepplin era that followed. I try hard to forget Zep. Heavy mental music which is so well portrayed in Spinal tap. The nadir of hard rock is a toss between Blue Cheer's Summertime Blues and the full length Indagaddadevida. Funny how it all cycled around to mundane disco, pretty people pop, then punk and new wave. But good new stuff always shows up, just look for it. And the good old is here in clips like these.
@heli3095 This will help you with your conviction. You have an oldies dance to play five DC 5 songs or play five Beatle songs -- which one are you going to have an easier time feeling good about the choice you have to make?
As well as London and Bath, the film was shot in the beautiful South Hams of Devon - Bantham beach sand dunes and Burgh Island , Bigbury. The sea tractor is still running and you can stay in the hotel these days - at a price!
I've never seen this movie, and have just looked at some clips on Youtube. I had assumed that it was a light-hearted romp similar to "A Hard Day's Night", but It evokes instead a certain mood of change that I sensed was in the air in that era. I would have been about 17 when "Catch Us If You Can" was made. There are some very appreciative reviews of it on IMDb, praising in particular the curiously melancholic atmosphere that it manages to convey...
That's what Bo & Luke were saying to Rosco, catch us if you can. LOL

@brainslow DC5 maintained their popularity in the UK until they broke up in 1970. It's just in the states that they dropped off.

Weren't the Beatles briefly rivaled by the DC5? The production values of their records, etc.?

(Liborsionko) The only difference is that the Dave Clark 5 is way better then the Beatles. Speaking on opionion.

Seems like a fab film!
Since it is currently unavailable, I wish someone would upload it for us all to see.

...ah yes, The Rutles!
Seriously though, this film intro observes Hard Day's Night so closely - it's essentially plagiarism.
