A great movie with a great song. The beaurtiful Gene Tierney was beautiful Laura I belive...saw it long, long ago. I love Johnny Mathis voice although Mat Monroe sings this same song beautifully too. Because of the movie./song I gave my daughter the name LAURA !
Brent Spiner sang the "Laura" part of this song to me at a comicon as I was walking away after I met him (My name is Laura) SO DREAMY! I kind of filmed it too, its on one of my uploads.
Sometimes I just can't stand to hear Johnny's version of songs, but... this certainly is fantastic. He is so expressive. It's as if it were made just for him!
This is not a promo: A heads up to all the Johnny Mathis fans...grab a copy of the dual album WARM/SWING SOFTLY; Mathis is at his best on this one, and for about 12 bucks you get TWO Mathis albums! Do not buy the stupidly overpriced rip offs as they are all the same item. It's a copy/reissue that was NEVER issued as a Vinyl! You get it from Amazdot for about Eleven or twelve bucks. Enjoy, or as I said in my review, listen to it with your special other and fall in love all over again.
Really enjoyed this. Love Johnny's version of Laura the most, and the bits from the film noir movie Laura were great to see, as were pics of Gene Tierney. Thanks for posting!
Fantastic movie, song, no other picture comes so well together with the theme, the story, the stars as Laura (the film would not have worked as well without Gene Tierney), a beautiful film like that could not be made today, hollywood lacks the talent, the Johnny Mathis version is the best of the song.
Arrangement of this song by Don Costa is based on the arrangements from the movie. Impeccably sung, of course, by Mr. Mathis, now 74(!), still sounding the same(!), with the Buffalo Philharmonic sounding just like the one on the recording, when he was here on Sept 26, 2009 (the orchestra played 'Happy Birthday' -his is on Sept.30- while the audience sang it to him). JM shared with the audience that this is his 'favorite' song!
Nice treatment by Brian Stokes Mitchell, but IMHO I'll take the Mathis version. It's softer and gentler, just the way it should be. To each his own, right?
Absolutely beautiful and the photos with this are outstanding. What a lovely and haunting song interpreted in the typical Johnny Mathis style. Thanks for this fantastic upload.

No one could sing this song like Johnny Mathis or Ella Fitzgerald. A great movie from the film noir album.

His voice is like velvet. The tune is beautiful too.
5 stars!

This guy is overrated. There must be at least one or two singers in history who could deliver a better tune. hahaha
Saw him perform in 2006. He is about 90% of his career best.
