  • I chose my lobster at the restaurant, looked at it straight in the eye, and gave a silent prayer in thanks. It's not every day you get to pet your dinner before it's cooked.

After the meal, I took it's (I think it was a she) claws, and created 2 necklaces to signify the event. I'm wearing it right now. It's more meaningful since I was face to face with the thing.

When you kill an animal, I believe you should use every part. If not it's downright disrespectful.

  • @Pop77o7 You are a fucking weirdo!!! lobsters have no feelings loser.

  • @Kubes15 i'm talking about life in general, idiot. I'm not some heartless bastard. If I killed a chicken, rabbit or deer it'd be the same way.

  • That is aweful, the damn thing was still moving in the pot. They dont have a autonomic nervous system that shuts them down from shock like we do so they keep on feeling the pain until they die.

Why is it such a big deal if i decide to go down the street and boil alive my next door neighbors kid if we can boil alive someone elses?

  • One day lobsters will rule the world and kick your ass!

  • you... left on the rubber bands....

  • Son of a bitch you are throwing them alive!!

  • @JohnsMeade They die instantly.

  • Who gives a shit, I once bought a lobster killed it and boiled it, didn't like the way it tasted dumped it in the trash, oh wells it's a fucking cockroach any ways right, before you bitch, I know you killed that insect in your house you fucking murderer

  • i would hate to be that lobster :'( cant they kill it first?

  • @laxFOOTwresBOY210

Fuck off you pansy ass shit-for-brains.

  • @MantasiaHater oh wow, you're a really mature asshole. i dont even know what that sentence says shithead.

  • @laxFOOTwresBOY210 They don't feel pain actually, or very little.

  • @laxFOOTwresBOY210 nope, if u kill it b4 cooking the meat becomes poisonous..sadly

  • @laxFOOTwresBOY210 It creates bacteria, sensitive sally.

  • Why don't they just kill it before they cook it?

  • @sewarforlife Pain ads flavor.

  • @madmanhunter lol

  • good job:)

  • Holy fucking crap, do all Lobsters get cooked like this? If they do... I am never eating Lobster again

  • @BeevaLaMex yep, all lobsters are cooked like this, how did you think they were killed? throat cut or what?

  • There goes Mr. Pinchy

  • emm looks good

  • this man is boring...

  • so you are able to put more than one lobster in a pot?

  • "One pretty easy way to tell it's a female is by it's tail to hold "HIS" egg"? O.o?

  • these guys need to stop complaining about how they kill these lobsters they do alot worse things to other animals for meat

  • @dordrius the boiling water kills the lobsters instantly

  • Im actually watching this so i can cook my order of maine lobsters tonight

  • it's food. Get your little minds over it.

  • Lobster is yummy

  • this is nasty

  • Why do you cook lobsters with the rubber bands on? Scared to get nipped?

  • @ShadowDeathBl1tz Considering the claws are powerful enough to break a finger, most people tend to put them on for safety purposes. But without educating yourself in anyway shape or form by watching these videos and having someone else to reply to you, i would love to see you make a video and show us all how its done. ;)

  • I heard a Maine accent hehe

  • add Old Bay to that pot. just danks them up!!

  • @Dedraex Some cooks like to add their favorite beer!

  • Try adding your favorite beer to the pot!

  • this is just awful!! animal abuse...!

  • @lauraaalovesu There are worse things happening in this world than someone cooking a lobster. If you don't like watching food being cooked go watch something you do like.

  • @chanze555 yeah yeah what ever...

  • why leave the bands on,makes your lob taste like rubber

  • There alive when they stick them in right... wonder why they dont move around

  • poor lobsters=/

  • Excellent basic cooking tips for these monsters. So many other YouTube vids are so bland and ignorant it is almost embarrassing. This one fills in all the holes. Timing, Water, even the serving sizes. I like that.

  • why did you put then in alive? :(

  • @96SKUxX so that its fresh, DUH! your going to kill them anyways

  • relax people...Lobster have an exo-skeleton which has no nerve endings so they don't feel any pain.

  • im going to buy some lobster in later from giant or safeway does them same rule applies 6 minutes and stuff what kinda of sauce do you reccomend

  • how would you like to get cooked alive bitch hope it happens to yo ass

  • @willmark96 wat about all the food you eat they had to kill them to and no not a gun shot to the head they do way worse things to calf's much much worse then this just for more tender meat. for the meat that they would want from the calf they will take it and strap it down to the ground so it cnt move eat or drink and it will just lay there a slow painfull death

  • @MrAOMM i would have to eat meat first but i got you

  • @MrAOMM Yup. The fear makes it taste better. trololol

  • can you BBQ them?

& I hope they dont feel pain.

& why dont you take the elastic off before putting them in boiling water? KInd of seem stupid to be cooking the elastic

  • This is more like a biology review ! To much info man.

  • WOW those two lobsters are very huge! thanks mate.!

  • you yanks get to eat lobster but in the UK even a small one is MEGA expensive so here hardly anyone knows what lobster tastes like.

  • @TigerIPanzer not that expensive, i bought 2 medium lobsters for 23 pounds a few months ago, im off to buy one today!

  • poor little guys, but they taste guuud.

  • you dont use any beer while boiling them??? i always do

  • Looks great - got Lobster this year first ever for New Year...was kind of weird to actual kill your own food (me and the guys haven't been fishing or hunting ever before) but anyway: Great experience & much more respect for the things i eat since then! Sorry for my crappy english, nevertheless: Why didn't you remove the rubber bands before cocking the lobsters? I heard leaving them on would influence the taste really bad...greetz from germany!

  • @Klimmzug That was my first thought! The lobsters are going to taste like rubber bands! Unfortunately, I had that experience...nasty!!! It was a waste of good lobster.

  • Thanks for visiting! We leave the bands on for more of a safety thing. It makes handling live lobsters a little easier. Your English is excellent. We cooked a lot of Maine lobsters and have not noticed any taste difference with them on or off. If you see the posts way below-- The University of Maine actually conducted tests with the bands off and on the lobster and noticed no difference.

  • @lobsteranywhere FACT...Rubber bands in the pot can spoil the taste......I have lobster 20+ times a year living here in a Newfoundland lobster fishing community and have seen one or two go in the pot with bands on by accident during night time boilups several times..you taste it ,it spoils the whole pot for me ..and i can eat 4-5 just to legal size lobster per meal(the best tasting ones, the smallest, another tip for your viewers)

you say that you "leave them on for safety" LOL

  • oh my God it looks so wierd.i hate them i like fish.i even dont hold them or touch them when my uncle buy them.

  • its okay to eat fish, cause they dont have any feelings.....

  • @Liquidlex6

only when they're underneath the bridge

  • If i remember correctly 90%+ Marine Life have no pain receptors ( almost all Fish, Lobsters, crab, shrimp, etc.) dolphins and whales do have pain receptors. but thats what a biology teacher told me

  • @Hexaggram I don't know about no pain receptors at all... but i know that fish don't have any feeling at all in their lips.

  • do you ever get attached to a lobster and have you ever thought of having one as a pet

  • cool vid man....the only way to cook 'em..lobster = mmmm

  • 1:06 im outoff here

  • too bad there is no friendlier way to kill them than to put em in boiling hot water

  • Your supose to cut the elastics off just before putting them to boil... or else the claw meat WILL taste rubbery.. just sayin. i live in nb we know all about cooking lobsters:)

  • poor Sebastian

  • Comment removed

  • @JillianxJrug no he was lobster. look it up

  • that looks so good, havent eaten lobster in years!

  • I still don't get why you have to boil it ALIVE???

  • @TheVlogSister

Actually boiling water is one of the fastest ways to kill something believe it or not! Otherwise it would be illeagle! I'd say those lobsters were completely dead within seconds of him putting them in.

  • good food, good music

  • did he just throw them in alive....!?!? thats rank....

  • Tests conducted at the University of Maine showed there was no taste difference between lobsters cooked with rubber bands on the claws and those cooked with no bands.

  • @lobsteranywhere

I was wondering why you keep them on? Is it just to avoid being pinched?

    Thanks for the cool video!

  • you could also put it in cold water after its boiled. This prevents the meat to stick to the shell.

  • Good Point! You can also put your cooked lobster in a big bowl of ice-- this will also stop the cooking process.

  • @lobsteranywhere Why do we have to wait until after to remove the rubber bands. sometimes I feel like I can take the rubber bands from the lobsters as if the taste soaked into the meat.

  • I thought they screamed...

  • No that's a myth. Lobster do not have vocal chords. The sound is simply steam escaping from the shell.

  • @lobsteranywhere whether they scream or not, the fact still remains that they are put in boiling water whilst still alive and thats cruelty! enough said

  • @accoOOOOOOOO so uneducated.

  • @UCLASeraph oh yeah! then educate me and tell me exactly how they die? if they manage to kill them prior to boiling then it may be fine, but as far as im concerned they are put in boiling water alive.

  • @accoOOOOOOOO Crustaceans have exoskeletons, they don't feel pain, because it would be a pointless feeling for them to have.

Softskinned things feel pain, because we need to avoid it, the whole point of a lobster and a crab having a hard shell is that it's armour.

They freak out because they sense that they're in danger, in the same way YOU would freak out if you saw a bear, even if it hadn't mauled you yet. You would try to get away, but you wouldn't be in pain.

  • @lobsteranywhere i bet if they did have vocal chords they'd scream!

  • the females are more male than the males?

  • I'm vegetarian and don't eat fish or meat but wondered if there is a difference between the taste of a male or female lobster. Friends do eat this type of food and I can appreciate the flavours and textures.

  • yea! that is the easiest way

  • "A female has a wider tail to hold his eggs."

    Fascinating stuff.

  • i am too scared to handle the lobster because it is scary!

  • Good Quality !!

  • I love lobster, I don't like any other sea food but Lobster I just love. I hope you will answer this question for me because I seriously would like to know, doesn't it feel cruel to put the live lobster in boiling water. Is there not a kinder way to cook them? Please don't take as an insult I would really want to know. Thanks Zelda

  • Even though this was about 6 months ago when you commented, but apparently a quick death is when you slice the head quickly with a knife. I learned that in culinary class. It is probably the best sounding way available. I wouldn't want to boil my lobster alive.

  • hmm looks tasty!

  • What kind of accent do you have?

  • That's a Boston accent!

  • how about going walking on a street and suddelnly a giant creature catches you and puts you alive in boiling water to die slowly without even dispatch you in a quick way? thats like a little bit cruel, dont you think?

  • @zionburner Most people would die of heart attacks.

  • @zionburner They should be quick killed (knife into the head) before boiling. Its better karma!

  • Please Take the bands off of the lobster before you cook it it sometimes leaves a taste of rubber on the lobster.

  • Tests conducted at the University of Maine showed there was no taste difference between lobsters cooked with rubber bands on the claws and those cooked with no bands.

We feel it is more for safety. If you handle lobsters properly you can certainly take the bands off. thanks for visiting!

  • who cares ? i eat lobter eggs all day

  • He dip them in so slow. What a maniac!

  • ahhhh ok makes sense now. great vid btw, makes me hungry for lobster haha

  • i thought it was illegal to catch, cook or get female lobsters.

  • Thanks for watching! It is legal to catch female lobsters ONLY if they are not egg bearing or marked with a v-notch. Egg berried females are identied by eggs attached to its swimmerets. V-notching is a voluntary practice amongst lobster fisherman where egg bearing female lobsters are given a v-shaped cut in a section of the tail fan.

  • @lobsteranywhere i thought you remove the rubber bands because they affect the flavour . why is it best to leave them on?

  • It is more for safety to cook lobsters with bands on. Some say it affects the taste--we've cooked a lot of lobsters and I experience no difference.

  • @s1lentkrnsou1jah not if they dont have eggs on the tail

  • @s1lentkrnsou1jah In Australia you can take both male and female, but only if the female isn't carrying eggs.

  • @TheSherwin2261 how do you know if they're carrying eggs?

  • @MrJeguar you look underneath the lobster, they carry the eggs under their tail.

  • @s1lentkrnsou1jah

i thought that was only if they are carrying eggs?

  • @s1lentkrnsou1jah its illegal to catch female lobsters that are pregnant.
