  • @IceFun yo.

  • 3:51 convinced me that this researcher is a wizard. WOW :o

  • Great technology for when you're planning on starting a Great Purge.

  • thank god it was discovered by someone other than microsoft or adobe

  • @robertbiggs34 It's in Adobe Photoshop already :)

  • @dooshahn but at least they didn't discover it first; otherwise, that shit would be patented like no other. same for microsoft.

  • @necroskiss brown is makin me crazy

  • very very impressive

  • Ugh, this thing is amazing. <3

  • This is advanced but not as advanced as Photoshop's CS5 Delete key which auto fills using artificial intelligence get Photoshop CS5 and try it out =]

  • @sspoke Photoshop's content-aware delete is essentially a perfected version of this.

  • @MybIlya Sorry, but no. Photoshop's content-aware delete is the equivalent of GIMP's resynthesizer. This is different because it doesn't "generate" new data, it simply stretches/compresses available data using the natural seams of the image.

  • fuck 211@CMU

  • como se hace lo de el minuto 3:50??

  • this truely is revolutionary indeed !!

However the thing of adding or removing a person is not very new, but is never had been as easy as today! This is awesome!!!!

  • Agreed.

  • where do you download it???????

  • It's Content-Aware Scaling in CS4 and Liquid Rescale in GIMP (2.4-2.6).

I try both. I like CS4's freehand scaling, but they both work pretty good, if you have reasonable expectations.

  • this just blew my mind...

GIMP is getting better and better thanks to awesome plugins like this!

  • That's incredible!

  • it is not CS4 but CS4 received this after the GIMP, today the big fishes do nothing, they just copy paste open source or acquire the tools that become way better than theirs...

  • Looks photoshopped. I can tell from the pixels, and having seen quite a few 'shops in my time.

  • It's real, and available in GIMP, at least.

  • This is in Photoshop CS4. Adobe hired the guy who created it. It's called "Content-Aware Scale".

  • We're doing this as the first exercise in our Computer Graphics course. Man, gotta love my uni :D

  • this is like magic

  • That's a relief, I was starting to think new technology will only depend on the machine's capacity, this shows off we haven't take advantage of what we already have.

  • incredible

  • wow

  • This is crazy. . .

  • Absolutely Awesome!

  • IMHO, most of the examples shown are available currently in PSCS using selections, paths, and the "transform" options..

However, clearly, this tool makes it all much more streamlined, easier and likely has a lot more options.

  • Damn. When will this be a Photoshop plugin?

  • cs4.

  • Absolutely fascinating

  • Impressive

  • Plug-In: Liquid Rescale GIMP 2.2

  • We used to call any photo that had been modified (beyond contrast enhancement necessary for pre-press, or cropping that did not significantly effect the content of the image) a photo, whereas anything that was modified beyond that was a 'photo illustration'.

  • Extremely awesome.

  • Fantastic!

  • areyouoffit: You echoed my thoughts. This guy is Kermit!

  • My point is that responsible newsrooms forbid photo manipulation beyond maybe enhancing the resolution.

Marketing and advertising, however, are free to use these tools any way they wish.

  • This video is being shown in a classroom right now

  • Amazing. Not ethical for journalist, but totally reasonable and wonderfully useful in advertising and art.

  • wow... talk about changing reality... this is certainly an advanced tool... but now photos can be edited so easily, and parts removed or added, that photos no longer represent real things. (then again ever since photoshop was invented... XD)

  • Now they need to get this to work with video, then make really cool video-goggles, then modify the software so you can auto-delete ugly people. Science makes the world more prettier.

  • sounds like kermit the frog.

  • Whoa... impressive

  • were can i download it? it rocks!

  • I don't just want it in a paint program, I want it in the browser and image format.

  • This is both scary and amazing to watch.

  • This is both scary and amazing to watch.

  • once they can do this with video pan & scan will be no more.

  • WOW I WANT THAT NOW!!!

  • fake! (just kidding)

    awesome...

  • I wish you to be as rich as your algorithm is revolutionary!!! It's a total revolution, and the applications will be freaking awesome... You don't even imagine all of the possible applications of this algorithm...

I am scared by the disappearance of a person on a photo. Really terrifying with its possibilities... You can ADD something or someone... Where will be the truth on a photo?

  • I am really totally terrified by such an invention !!!!!!!!! I see what will be done with it...

  • in terms of changing photos, it is really no different from technology that's been around for years - decades even. In Stalinist Russia political opponents were regularly removed from photographs. All technology like this has done is made it easier.

  • I know that you're right, and I was already aware of it, of course... What is freaking is to make it available for everybody. All Satan's students must be so pleased to have a new tool to make their job...

On the other side, it will be very useful.

But what is very sure is that we won't be able anymore to know where is the truth on a photo!!!

  • Uhm yes we will since you can detect if a certain algorithm has been used.

  • Yeah, well... you know, that in stalinist russia they HADN'T got computers? They were scratching photographs and reshaping the silver dots on celuloid. Yeah, thats fucking cruel job to do...

  • OMFG you rock!

  • Wow! That is so amazing and exciting! Awesome!

  • This is no less than revolutionary

  • The seams between my lips have expanded. My jaw is now resting comfortably on the floor. Bravo!

  • Holy cow! That is amazing.

  • most impressive!

  • this is fantastic you are amazing thxxxxxxxxxxxxx a lot for this.

  • amazing. i can see this being in ever paint program in 5 years. i hope you get rich from this. youve really enhanced the world. well done.
