Sounds like he was lying. Motors don't blow up because they aren't made with combustible materials. Even Internal Combustion Engines (the kind the use for cars) don't explode when they malfunction.
I want Air Trecks just as bad as the next fan, but these people behind this AT project are liars and they haven't actually built anything.
I'm sure we could do it in a few more decades, but the technology doesn't exist NOW and no amount of believing inhuman achievement is going to bend the laws of physics or make technology develop any faster.
@ChrowX They have already made skates that can run with electric motors, it just goes 15mph; there are also gasoline-powered skates. It’s possible to make something similar, unfortunately, making an AT "exactly" like described in the anime or such is unrealistic, currently. Putting the idea of an AT into your own creation, your own version of Air Trek’s with technology available now, would be a much better idea. Getting as close to AT’s as possible, like StarTrek’s communicator and our cellphone
i think the closest thinks i can see this possible is a pressure system motor or 2 very small generators or a small flat floor motorized motor or a hydro motor or a electric motor, or a thermal motor , and no matter what there has to be something cooling your feet off like a small cooling pad for your feet or a ice pack in the cushions:

Guys i think y won't we use the Kinetic and Friction method like if we're moving forward we can generate the extra energy need for it which can be stored in the Lithium battery or some kind of power source therefore the soure of movement should came from the rear wheel...
Secondly, bout the human-interface for the machine we can put a layer of cushion which can also help in the jump boost of the rider and for the human-interface system to be easily being used juz by movement of our feet...

since that will be the case, i think it is better to have more powerful motor on the rear wheel that the front wheel to save some money and space for the brakes amd the batteries. . .

I think there is a little problem, you direct the wind, to were? you need to have an incredible contraption in a very little espace, and it need a lot of space the enouhgt gear to transfor the wind into an electric power. The ramjet or the scramjet it´s a good idea but it needs an inital speed to start the propulsión. Maybe an electric cell hanged in the shoulders as a bag, or any tipe of clean energy like the hydrogen combustion that moves a dynamo, the NASA does that kind of combustion.

making an AT isnt that hard, theres only 4 things you would need to acomplish
1. make a small motor capable of reaching speed's up to 40-50 mph , any more is unsafe for humans
2. make a breaking system, powersliding can be messed up easisly and you can hurt your self,
3. control, you need to make a way to control your speed, and finally,
4. air suspension, being able to boost jump will defintly fit with the ATs. i am working on making AT's and any help would be welcome, just pm me. thankyou
As far as the speed control I think the concept from the anime is ok and I wouln't want to have a clunky remote in my hand while riding. Then again you're the current top dog on this idea.

a remote control would be easier though, considering that the skate its self is difficult enough to make, but I agree that sensors around the bottom of the boot would be optimal.
The power supply wouldn't be the biggest problem. Many small batteries can packup more energy then the big ones, not to mention the fact, that we can use the moving energy as power - heard about the watch that can power up from you moving your arm? So you see, its only a matter of time before someone hits his head on the ground and invent ones

No. it isnt real.
No battery is small enough to fit in those. And no motor is powerful enough to send someone faster than average human-walking speed.
Calculate all the numbers and possibilities you want; it'll be JUST that. Numbers and possibilities.

going at high speeds with skates is not as easy as it looks (oh shit! pebble *trips and falls*)
and its worse going 40-60 mph
The braking should be done with the motor as well

a remote control would be easier though, considering that the skate its self is difficult enough to make, but I agree that sensors around the bottom of the boot would be optimal.

The power supply wouldn't be the biggest problem. Many small batteries can packup more energy then the big ones, not to mention the fact, that we can use the moving energy as power - heard about the watch that can power up from you moving your arm? So you see, its only a matter of time before someone hits his head on the ground and invent ones

you know we actually have the technology for this, we can pack viable motors down to the size of those wheels, and the pressure sensitive acceleration system is what makes the seg-way work...the problem would be the power supply

Possibly energy could be generated by the motion of the wheels?
And speaking of Air Trecks, how would we be able to launch off of the ground to reach heights no one thought possible with a pair of skates?
Or be able to ride the side of a building without falling off, and landing on the ground?
