very MISLEADING TITLE FOR THE POST... i understand why mistymountaineers wrote that....I have no problem with this type of music but when you say that bluegrass is safe in her hands......you are WRONG...she would be be the death of bluegrass unless she starts PLAYING IT........ like I said...i have no problem with her..but but posting it as bluegrass..that is a stretch...
@MrBrotherLou It's closer to Bluegrass than Toby Keith is to Country. Is David Grisman a Jazz Mandolinist or Bluegrass or both. Was Jethro Burns Jazz, Country, Bluegrass or all three? Expand your horizons and appreciate the music for what it is, good music. Thanks for your comment but I respectfully disagree that Sarah could have anything but a positive effect on the music known as Bluegrass. And I worship at the altar of Saint Bill Monroe and Earl Scruggs.
@MrBrotherLou She's phenomenal, but she definitely is NOT Bluegrass. And "Close" doesn't count, with her or Toby Keith, either. Those like her aren't going to have a positive effect on Bluegrass... they are going to kill it, the same way people like Toby Keith killed Country.
Not to knock their talent level or any others, because they are obviously are very talented, but this is basically a second comming of Nickel Creek and they played the instruments, but it isn't BLUEGRASS...Not to say they couldn't do it , Let bluegrass stay bluegrass and do not bastardize it like they did country..This is more folk than anything..
@MistyMountaineers: I like straight ahead traditional bluegrass music as much as you do but I welcome these youngsters who expand the audience just as I embraced Tony Trishka, Newgrass Revival and the David Grisman Quartet when they ruled the roost. I must admit though, seeing Lester Flatt live, when Marty Stuart was just a teenager and played guitar with his him, was a pretty amazing experience for a twenty year old Woodstock generation Byrds fan from Western New York.
Sarah, Alex and Samson - killer threesome. SJ is a beautiful, talented composer & musician. To see her perform live is an awesome experience. Help support *REAL* talent - buy their CDs, attend their concerts! Society needs people like this to stay healthy.
Bluegrass diehards are funny, "It's not bluegrass."
How many bluegrass musicians does it take to change a lightbulb?
One, and the rest of them to complain that it's electric.

@MistyMountaineers "second coming of Nickel Creek and they played the instruments, but it isn't BLUEGRASS."
Yeah, when I had my Bluegrass band, sometimes some kid would ask if we did any Nickel Creek, and my reply was always "Nope, we only do Bluegrass".
