@NotCliffyB Remember these are supposed to be intelligent machines that were capable of overthrowing mankind and driving us into the depths of the earth, then these are machines that were able to create The Matrix; a perfect simulation of late 20th century life. And the best plan they could come up with was "lets fly at them in swarms until they run out of bullets"? They couldn't even deploy a smoke screen to cover them until they got close? Bombs? Snipers? Come on . . .
Think about it. They have at their disposal an entire planet's worth of natural resources. Their units are all automated and can be replaced at whim. The humans have nothing to counterattack with so there's no need to hold reserve troops back. The machines don't have to worry about public opinion so they don't have to fight fairly. The best way to solve a problem is usually the easiest one, so why would they need anything more complicated than a zergrush of Sentinels?
maybe I'm just a genius but can w give the armored personnel carrier some armor. I mean the sentinels really don't have firearms equipped just a little laser.
@wind27382 The APUs didn't have any armor because of the lack of resources. Besides, without armor the APU driver can see more and the APU is more agile. The Sentinels "squids" would just VERY quickly laser/drill the armor and the driver would be dead.
Watch the Animatrix. One of the shorts show armoured mechs much like the APU. It had armour that fully enclosed the cockpit. The robots simply cut through it and ripped out the pilot. Point is, it didn't help much.
I own the animatrix an rematching it now. and I think I'm still right they pinned him down then cut him out. anyway it took a little more time. I mean don't get me wrong the sentinels are very mean. so nothing could have saved them. but having the pilot exposed was a bad idea they might have been able to take down a few more. but its a bad idea to leave a cockpit exposed. i mean think about it.
Still didn't help much if they died. Even so, the ones in the Animatrix seemed more "stiff". And they knew they could never win. Why waste making frontal armour and make more mechs instead?
why didnt they put a simple armored cover over where the driver sits it would make it so much more effective then they wouldnt get fucked up quite as fast

don't know about that. I think they could have given them more armor directly in front to stop the sentinels from ripping them to pieces.
the sentinels would still win in the end but the apu could have put more of a fight up and lasted longer with an armored cockpit.

'Cos Zion didn't have enough resources and it would limit the manoverability. The sentinels have laser cutters that would chew the shield in no-time.
