  • Bach's gift for composition is unmatched. I'm often reminded of fractals, the infinitely detailed and replicating mathematical functions.

  • Thank goodness that this multi-year, epic recording project was undertaken and done generally with such success. I have concluded that Harnoncourt was the better director & ensemble of the two. Of course, the quality of the trebles varied, Peter Jelosits being an example of exceptionally good. The adult singers were quite good, especially the wonderful Paul Esswood. And to think that Bach wrote many more cantatas than now exist. Many were destroyed or lost.
