Hitchcock had a Gestapo style police force in the 80's when the Mayor and City Council had enough and fired the Chief and did away with the brutality. The complete Manvel Police Department was fired in the 90's. I think in the last month when all this started to come about Ive ran into 10-15 people who are scared to even leave the house!! I asked an older man about coming to a council meeting and he said " hell no, they beat me every time I leave my house, and a woman said bruss was very rude to her 17 year old daughter for running a stop sign. I have heard other cities like Bellaire dont have this kind of problem. there chief of police doesnt tolerate an officer raising there voice unless the situation called for it, the chief knows if he doesnt keep his officers in line, he is the one getting fired along with everyone else who is not doing there job. seems people running our town forget where they came from and think they can get away with anything, well those days are about to stop.

Perhaps you should do some brushing up on what Civil Service is really all about and the things officers can be fired for under civil service, including discourtesy to the public. Some police officers or former police officers must have forgotten to read after page one of the civil service code for the state of Texas, either that or maybe they tried to and just didn't understand the words written on the paper.

Well, Civil Service has taken affect and now the officers are protected by the protection they deserve. Sgt Bruss is still working at the Santa Fe Police Department and will remain there until he chooses diffrent.. It is admirable for you to stand up and try to get something done against this type of abuse of power and I concur with your plight. Your fight is tough because the citizens voted for Civil Service back in May. This took the power away from administration, concil, and the Chief. The Sharif department and the Texas Rangers do the investigation (because of Civil Service). Maybe you should ask the Sharif or the Texas Rangers about the investigation. You were told the investigation is in progress.

Michael Nelson, when you put yourself in the public's eye, you open yourself up for criticism, which is why it is so important to pick your issues and advocate for deliberated items that are viewed by the public as favorable to your side. The video doesn't lie, nor do the complaints turned in against Bruss. Bruss was knealing on a citizen punching him in the face with a closed fist, point blank... I do believe Mr. Cagles intentions wasnt to go and rebute his side and make it a courtroom, but only giving a suggestion on what needs to be done to bring city council meetings back to what they need to be. There is a process for people with complaints and this isnt the way to go. I also dont think its fair that peoples messages and opinions expressing their first amendment rights such as yourslef, get erased. How unconstitutional is that?
