And Derek Trucks is more creative and far reaching in his musical ranging. His tone is WAY better, too (Mayer scoops the hell out of his tone, which makes it sound very thin).
And many Mayer songs sound similar, especially given the way he sings.
Keb Mo is more original than him. The Black Keys are more original than him. Derek Trucks is more original.
He's original like noone else, and he plays the blues. His songs do not sound alike, and his scooped mids sound amazing. They really make his Two-Rock cleans glitter.
He does NOT play the blues. Period. He plays candy pop.
The guitar is a midrange instrument. Two Rock amps are based off of Dumble amps, which are based off of Fender amps, which have very little midrange as it is. Why do you think his tone barely cuts through the mix? If you want to hear REAL tone, listen to (again) Warren Haynes play through his SLO100 or Joe Bonamassa play through his epic setup.

He tries to play my kind of music, but cannot do so. I watched the vid because it was linked to a Buddy Guy vid I was watching.
Also, I do enjoy some of his guitar playing, namely the 2004 Crossroads festival. Boy can play. I just don't like his tone or his voice.
