CHA, these new videos are great, but you didn't talk about using the horse's mane to mount rather than mounting with both hands on the saddle. Thank you for these instructional videos. Just in time for summer season too! :) CHA Instructor, Laura Irvine
I love how easily you can pull yourself up! It's not fair. At my riding lessons I've always used a mounting block but the girl who's training my horse won't let me use one because if I fall off I won't be able to get back on if I'm on the trail or whatever. :P
Using a mounting block is a great idea to be able to help your horse's back. If you ride English you can always lower the stirrup before you get on and then raise it once you are up....
You can teach your horse to stand by anything, including a fence, for you to mount safely from. However, don't try to stretch for that stirrup while you get on as the horse could go one way and you another!

nice video.
only thing I do diferent is when mounting we come at the horse from a 90 degree angle.
and we mount from both sides. while training I like to go to on the right for every one on the left.
but those are personal things and all in all I think this is the best video I have seen on mounting. thumbs up.

Teaching your horses and riders to mount and dismount from both sides is a great idea!
