  • crazy pilot

  • vvr vq pretty much the same concept is what hes trying to say . if you look at the engines theyre pretty much similar to eachother. block is pretty much the same . different internals and head design of course

  • 4:11 , Penis stripe? Haha i know pin stripe but still.

  • wat. the GT-R has a VR, not a VQ.

  • @cavalier777 It has a VQ38DETT not a VVR

  • Mirra is sick! He's competing at a new series I found called Global Rally X 1st d8 is next week in CA!! Hells yeah!

  • wow at first i thought, THATS DAVE MIRRA?! hes bald?! Lol

  • 40, 42, and 199 FTW

  • Mirra is an amateur .

  • He should brake when he comes in to the corners for some weightmovement to the frontwheels, to get the spikes down to the ice. Then he gets more frontgrip and then he can oversteer through the bend. From the place he went through the snowwall he should have been more agressive from the start and gone more wide from an earlier stage. I have the same problem in tightened corner

This is just an scndinavian comment dont take it to serious.

  • I don't care what anyone says, dave mirra was a very good BMXer in the rally world he's just a very noble and kind guy.

  • @tamick21 Mirria has been racing for how long now? Exactly. He just got dropped into a SP and now a OC car because of his pre packaged celebrity. But he is learning, and learning pretty fast. Give him a few more years and he might be pushing the top US/CAN drivers. He certainly has the heart for it and he is great with the fans, which counts for a lot in my book.

I'll see you at 2011 100 Acre Wood Mirra.

  • Maxima=FRONTwheeldrive faggotry!!=FAIL.

    Subaru for the WIN!!

  • Yes it is.

The Nissan Maxima is AN AFFORDABLE 4 DOOR SPORTS CAR.

  • nissan maxima is no 4 door sports car, a cts-v and BMW M5 are real 4 door sports cars

  • @rob16875 says the ingnorant asshole who owns niether of those cars...I don't care if this was a year ago it's the truth.

  • @Girsbestfriend your right i dont own either, i have a 2000 Grand Prix GTP coupe, but anyway i dont think a nissan maxima is as much of a 4 door sports car as a CTS-V a M5 or a Mercedes c63 AMG

  • @rob16875 The news one are pushing 300+ horse with their 3.5 Liter engine. Plus, totally retarded to compare such cars that our out of the price range.

  • O' Neils is a great school. Mirra sucks. me and the local boys would smoke him anyday......

  • dude...

I think your on the wrong side of the road...

    5:02

    lol

  • Comment removed

  • want a sports car you can get a 2002 porsche boxter for 20000$ nissan is shit i drive a fully loaded brand new BMW deisel top of the line D35 or w.e. in 3 month of owning it i have filled it twice thats what makes the diffrence between nissan and BMW

  • dude you can get 2002 boxter for less than 15 grand where i live

  • "My name is Matt i like to skate and play around also", from your profile, sounds like you have a really fast car........

  • yea man it's nice

  • the maxima has the 3.5 not the 3.7 would be nice if they had the 3.7 ide trade my 04 in right now

  • hahaha

  • i own my own pro rally car track and i got 5 pro rally cars

  • Dude i own a pro rally car.. and all he said is true

  • I love 4th gen Maxima's they are very good reliable cars, I have a 1995 Maxima with 237,000 miles original engine and transmission no modifications and still going strong. They will last forever if you do routine service. The 2009 look awesome, I see them often parked outside at my local Nissan dealership.

  • I think its from a San Diego car show

  • What episode is the clip at 4:07 from?

  • mirra cant drive

  • you're right, that was pretty sad for a rallycross driver.

  • better than your sorry ass

  • maybe, maybe not. at least i own a car u fucking faggot, i actually drive! i bet your like 13 years old still getting around in mommy's minivan.

  • i do have a car and i could prolly whoop your bitch ass in a race

  • zomg lemme hit the my NOSzzz ova da internet.

yeah you proved how "fast" you are by trying to argue over the internet.

  • hes new and he is alot better on 2 wheels anyway :p

  • yeah i dont take him too seriously as a rallycar driver..

also in a real wrc car youd be able to hold the throttle down alot more than he did in the snow (also it seems his car has a normal manual tranny versus a sequential tranny as in wrc cars)

  • Yeah thats true the majority of rally cars today are clutchless you could obviously tell he was clutching

  • yeah for sure.

way better to have sequential tranny in rallycars.

  • its not a wrc spec impreza thats why

    looks like a group n

  • yeah probably.

  • I've seen Mirras car in person and it is group n with just a standard trans the car is nothing great

  • its got straight cut gears xD

  • they just got 1 hell of a turbo on it tho

  • dude have you ever seen dave mirra race rally car ive have he would kick you ass in a race man

  • dave mirra is not that good, he just has a sponsor backing him up

  • and you're much worse because the only thing backing you is your chair sitting in front of your computer.

  • I stated a fact,,, there are alot of really good rally drivers in the US that get no props. There are also alot of good european drivers that come to US to rally but dont get what they deserve either.

So why should we give mirra specieal attention?

  • No, you stated your opinion. I stated a fact. He is a professional driver and you are not. He is good enough to have a sponsor and you do not. If he were not good enough to provide a return on the investment made in him, he would not be a professional driver. Please learn the difference between your opinion and fact so that you can be able to discern between the two in the future.

  • Correct me if im wrong, but didnt he have the same sponsor before he even went to rally school?

And i still cant understand your obsession with me lol,, i never once compared myself too him and personally you dont know my situation.

  • Sorry, but Dave Mirra sucked at driving, and somebody gave him a Rally Car... he's getting better, but only because he has such a hoard of disposable income. Put him on a track with some experienced autocross people, and I guarantee he'll get raped.

  • lol yeah. Deegs tried rally and Xgames and flopped LOL

  • because the producers of this show know people know the name dave mirra more than most other drivers that they would be able to get on the show

so they put him on because they know its more likely that people will watch it because of his name is on the title or whatever

  • hahahah god damn!! yeah dude!

  • this is true he fckin sucks he should just stick to bmx and leavethe rally to ken block and travis pastrana

  • i like ken block :D

  • ken block= the shit

  • ditto

  • Come see Dave Mirra up at Dalton New Hampshire, Jan 24th.. at the Team O'Neils Rally. I'm intrested to see if his snow driving has improved since the last year's race.

  • wheres todays episode? i cant find it.

  • Got posted late because we were having internet difficulties at the office, our bad.

  • Whats was in the 300ZX?

  • The 300's have the VG series engine.

  • Didn't the VQ started out as a 3.0L?? It was first used in the fourth generation Maxima. My family has one =D

  • I believe the first version of the VQ engine appeared in the late 1980's maxima's. I don't know what generation they were though.

  • I looked it up, the first VQ was in 1994 in the Nissan Cefiro (in Japan) which is pretty much the Infiniti I30. Ours is the 1996 Maxima which is a great car!

  • no, the first VQ was in the 1995 Nissan Maxima, the 3.0. In Japan, the 3.0 was first used in 1994 on the Nissan Cefiro.

  • @lanchime i think they were 2.8s at first. I own a max with the 3L.

  • Yeah, the tanned up princesses don't really swoon over a BMW either... You gotta get what YOU like!

  • Love the new Maxima

  • Nice video and honest opinions Matt!

  • I liked this segment a lot. You drove a car, you rated the car, you gave an honest and good opinion about how the car felt and comforted you. That's what I want to see, this is the garage 419 I want to watch. 5 stars and I hope to see more shows like this.

  • i completely agree with you

  • that cool driving in the snow. and that is a nice subaru

  • drifting in snow is too easy.

  • true, in an AWD car. Try doing what Merra did in a FWD car. lol. Merra would be hitting everything.

  • I don't thing you can get an VQ in a GTR. The GTR has a VR engine...

  • true. I flubbed the line a bit. My bad.

  • Thats right, the GTR has the VR 3.8.

  • Matt nissan's are not ugly. I love how the GT-R looks.

  • Cant wait 2 buy my STI ganna b a fun time

  • Haha I love that turbo on the STI.

  • The Vf39? yah. its ok. For a 13.2lbs turbo. What you prob love is the BPV.

  • Haha sorry. I don't understand half of your comment.

  • oh. heh

  • smooth tarmac is the fastest surface

  • i think he meant with the exception of smooth tarmac cause that seems like a given

  • yeay but he mean in rally

  • Great show Matt. Beautiful up there in winter.

  • b.o.v on the rex yeah?

  • just my opinion... FLD should leave the car reviews to Garage 419. HAHA Matt does an excellent job.

    DAVE MIRRA IS THE SHIT!!

  • agreed

and I concur with that my friend

  • Ice is great!! It iced here not to long ago a buddy picked me up in his truck turned the 4WD off and just slid ALL over the road so much fun!!!!

  • I love sliding on ice i remember back when i had my accord one time scared a bunch of people behind me they thought i lost control of my car XD i was just having fun i almost did a 360 in the middle of the road. I finally killed the tranny in that car frigin automatics.

  • I understand the weather conditions, but you didn't really dig too deep into the car itself. i.e. boot space, back seat comfort, ride quality, road noise, shift quality. You did manage to mention you were comfortable about 1000 times. :)

I'm not sure I understand you defending the styling only a mother could love by saying it's not future retro. (clearly a GM/Ford/Chrysler knock) Why not just say that they missed on the styling but everything else is good?

  • I think the car looks good from every angle but directly in front. And it has a CVT so it doesn't ever shift. Those other comments got edited for one reason or another.

I did say comfortable a lot :) What can I say? It has great seats!

  • great review Matt you have gotten really good at them

  • I start to like this channel, GTR vs rented Corvette, decent reviews ... subscribing!

  • yea same

  • ken block is fuckin sick i hop dave can put himself in to rally like he did to bmx. and i really hope he does kens old gymkhana car justice

  • bonito, bonito compay, i get confused carlos saniz with you, that flag in your shoulder ..... LA MADRE PATRIA, I believe you was to drive the maxima like the impreza....i know almost impossible

  • nice video. subaru and nissan. both great.

  • For sure i got a sr20 s13 nissan now im after a wrx with a bad head

  • yeah i want to try to get an s14 when i can. too bad they dont have the s15 in the states.

  • I know i just hope they really make the s16 they keep teasing with concepts but nothing ever materializes no doubt it won't look as good as a s15 it will still be a awesome car.

  • oh yeah i heard about the s16 hope they make it.

  • great episode bro... sorry i missed u in new york.

  • oh boy that blow off valve on the impreza... mmm

also does that nissan hint of a maserati front end?

  • I'll take the Maserati's front end and the Nissan's reliability....

  • very nice review. like the camera work

  • Do we really need American Top Gear? Garage 419 already is a show which presents new models and does interesting challenges for example the kart racing event and winter rally which we just saw. If sponsored by a TV channel Garage 419 could be the Top Gear of USA. Keep up the good work Garage 419 and rest of the team on the NNN.

  • This show dominates Fast Lane Daily

  • you dominate fast lane daily

  • They are two different shows. FLD provides casual daily news of the automotive industry while 419 brings the in-depth reviews and drives. Two different types of shows with different purposes.

  • and still dominates FLD...

  • I love how so meny X-games past super champions are all turnign to rally. Travis Pastraana just quicked ass as a Motercross jumper and now Dave Mirra the Un-betable bmx ridder now also drives rally.

  • And.. Rear wheel drive. That would probably have been a lot more fun for Matt to test too, no need for the pesky handbrake when the back comes out at the touch of the throttle.

  • gotta love the vq series, but does the gtr have a vq? its a 3.6L twin turbo but i dont know if its a vq. btw "functionaly ugly" lmao no better way 2 say it!

  • yes its a vq engine

  • love it :)

  • Actually, I flubbed that line a bit. The GTR actually has the VR engine, not the VQ. My bad.

  • its cool man....ktu!

  • Rallycross rules. Grass roots go baby^^

  • love driving in the snow. it's the ice under the snow you gotta watch for though.

    cool vid.

  • I love Garage 419!

  • Great episode. Good work.

  • that looks like so much fun! Ive driven my golfcart on icy roads and through a bit of snow and had a blast...i can only imagine how much fun it would be in a rally car lol!!

    and yes i meant golfcart.

  • looks fun

  • A great review Matt but as you pointed out it wasn't the best conditions for a proper test. I like the car myself, you can't go wrong with a nissan for reliability, which is the main thing I think.

  • Rallying like that looks EXTREMELY FUN

  • nice i like how he doesn't use the new raped-in-the-face subaru

  • I agree. I've gotten used to the new front end of the Subaru but I like the old ones (2000-2003) way more.

  • Me too.

  • If you've ever seen the Ken Block Gymkhana video, this is the same car Ken was driving. Dave inherited Ken's old ride :)

  • cool

  • No risk of brake fade through overheating!

  • careful driving summer tire on cold weather...SERIOUSLY.....it basically got absolutely grip...even if you have high tech 4wd or fancy ESP...it won't turn won't stop won't accelerate won't do basically anything a tire is suppose to do... careful man...i bent my control arms thinking 4wd n esp gonna save my ass when i hit the curb sideways with summer tire cause I'm lazy......

  • i go all the way cheap and buy all weather tires.

  • Its a funny thing that, most of the crashes during vinter-time here is by 4wd SUVs, because it gives the owner a false sense of security.

  • Nice Video! Love the sliding around in the beginning with the Nissan.

Where is that though? Like Colorado or something? I don't think you said.

  • he said monticello new yerk right at the beginning.

  • He did? Oh. lol

  • Thought it could have been better, it seemed dull to your style of show.

  • We had a really sweet plan, we were gonna autocross the Maxima against a Mini and a 1969 Dodge Daytona, but then the snow went and fucked it all up for us. Fortunately, Dave Mirra hollered at your boy and saved the shoot, sorta.

  • A) who ever gave me 3 thumbs down, is retarded. You can't expect to just tell G419 they're great and have them get better that way. GIVE THEM SOME CRITICISM!

  • Regardless, it wasn't a bad video.. just not one of your better ones. Keep up the good hard work!

  • B) Damn! I wish you guys did!! THAT would have been awesome. I don't know, to me this episode was just missing something.. The Dave Mirra shots were sick. But the whole Maxima thing was just a tad boring.

Instead of just improving about the functions and the interior.. you had a parking lot no? Maybe you could have discussed some more of the performance details while you were there, and shot some funny crazy shit.

  • Video Quality and editting on par with Top gear using only a fraction of the budget...Improve the writing slightly (like back in the S5 video) and you have the next best thing to the UK's Top Gear

  • ole esa bandera española!!!!spanish flag!! XD

  • This is a fully loaded maxima, with every single option possible. Base maxima is 31k. 37k will get you a base bmw 325 with zero options, but some people like tanned up italian girls, so have it your way just like BK!

  • they should've given you a new WRX/Lancer Ralliart to drive!

  • this was a great episode. really nicely put together. im starting to quite enjoy the show, i hope it catches on with more people. nice job garage419.

  • Awesome, I love how you guys do a ton of stuff in my area, it's good to see a show that isn't based in California or Florida for once...

  • ...Lower BMW > Higher Nissan

overall great video this has taken 419 to a whole NEW level!!!

great job guys, extra props to Matt

  • you guys are going to dominate the automobile video segment soon and i mean on all platforms. great host, production, and very interesting stories not the same old shit keep it up...and tell speed to get rid of those old fucks and give you all a show!

  • nice review, nice area as well, but NIGHTMAREuki is right the GTR (which isnt ugly!) has the VR36 unit in XD

  • is this his Top Gear casting video? lol

  • More like Fifth Gear casting video because of the Maxima ;) Good episode tho, the Maxima looks really solid. Nice new stylish camera shots in this one as well.

  • Man, I wish there were more open rally-x events around. Now that Honda is cashing in it's sports car chips, Nissan is the last remaining refuge of Japanese performance!!

(Versa with a VQ??... Hmmm... Someone should suggest it :P)

  • awsome vid and i do it with my quad too drifting in da snow*=!!!

  • i'm liking this "show" more and more with every new vid.

BUT GTR doesn't have VQ, it has VR

  • you're right, my bad. When I do it on the fly I flub a fact sometimes....

  • no sweat, i probably noticed b/c i have a Maxima so i was paying attention :), and my -1 rating means that there are lots of misinformed fan boys.

  • Its all good, Im just a crazy 24 year old NISSAN NUT in North Carolina. Thanks for commenting back. I love the show the more I watch. To all of you at Garage419, keep up the good work!

  • Nice show. Even-headed analysis of the Maxima by Matt, and a little bit of hoonery from Mirra. Not much more you could ask for.

    Keep it up!

  • It's interesting how car & driver does video reviews of their cars too, and they probably have more money to spend on their videos, but you produce a much better and more entertaining video review of your cars than car & driver

  • They should have more cars from europe aswell from japan like this nissan also First!

  • Sweetness.... the snow awesome! I always pull my parking break around fresh powder. Even in slow cars it makes it fun to do!

  • awesome
