MGS4 is relatively short, excellent graphics, and good action. The ending is too resemblant of the ending to MGS1, the twist ending couldve been done a million times better, Foxtrot is... lacking.

Halo: ODST is a fun game, lots of action, in-depth story. No shields, no new vehicles, one new weapon, long but rather boring story after the first few hours of gameplay, too based on the books.

I recommend either Lair or Haze. But if you insist on one of the initial choices, go with ODST.
