Hey Kupplerski-great job!! Devil's Dream isn't easy to play at all. I just started playing fiddle about 3 years ago and still haven't nailed it! I do wish that I had been playing back during 200-2003 when I drove OTR for (please don't laugh!!!!) SWIFT!!!!!!!!! (Danged old governed trucks!!!! Everybody used to HATE gettin' stuck behind me!!! LOL) Anyway, great job, keep up the good work and drive safe!!
Hey Christy, I found it! That was pretty cool. I remember trying the violin when I was little. I do have a banjo that I learned to play when I was around 13 and I still have it. I liked playing "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" and "The Ballad of Jed Clampet" (The Beverly Hillbillies Theme) . And believe it or not I did meet Max Baer (Jethro) at a Vons here in Vegas. He gave me an autographed picture of him and "Duke" the bloodhound.
OMG! I play the five string too! The "banjar"! lol! Tho, I am pretty rusty anymore...But I played pretty obsessively for years....I have a Gibson RB250, the '80's "transistional" model. Too funny! We have a bit in common, eh? Thank you for commenting! :) PS: I play by ear...can't read barely more than three notes for the violin.
Well, your three notes of reading has got me beat! I can't read any sheet music. I learned the banjo using tabliture so that was pretty east with the 5 lines representing the 5 strings. But for the most part, everything is by ear as well. My banjo is a Orlando (that's what it says on the headstock). I wanted a OME banjo, but they were way to expensive!
Fantastic! Colleague of mine taught himself to play guitar, whilst resting in depot in Munich, so I thought to myself, I should do something proactive with my spare time - trouble is I didn't really have any and that's why I gave up; first the bodhran, then the harmonica and finally the tin whistle. Much to the relief of the drivers parked next to me, I'm sure! Well done, you send great!
Oh, lemonmerinquepie, I can't thank you enough for such a nice comment and positive feedback! Oh, shucks, I never let nearby truckers bother me....We musicians all have to start somewhere, and yes, we sound awful in the beginning....but how do you get GOOD if you don't practice, right? You just KEEP PLAYING! And please, post a video of it!!! :)
I can't even play the fiddle...wouldn't know where to start. I do know a Hawaiian song that sounds good with a fiddle in it. The name of the song is "Pali a Kamoa" and I think Sam Li`a Jr. composed it...Li`a was a fiddle player & Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Master from Waipi`o Valley on the Big Island where I'm from...I'll see if I can get it out to you...
Thanks SO much, widawake!!! I bet I could teach you how to play "the spoons"...you may find you have more talent than you first thought! (PS: I sound better after a few brewskie! LOL!)
EnglishTrucker, I apologize for not responding to your comment sooner! Thank you so much "for the flowers"! Please come over to my NJKatwoman channel, where all the really good video's are! :)
LOL! I'm in the bunk of my tractor!!! I'm a tractor trailer driver!!! LOL!!! Playing the fiddle is just one way to help use some free time to my advantage. Soon, it will be the five string banjo that I'll be plunkin' on! Have a super day!
What a fantastic personality! I loved every minute of watching you. You seem to love playing your fiddle and are getting on really well. Some really nice bits in there. How long have you been playing?
Why, Thank you SO much, Chanteurmoderne! I "played violin" in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades as a child, and then 30 or more years went by before I picked it up again. I started to teach myself how to fiddle a few years ago. I play by ear. I'm saving for a better bow, which I think will improve my sound greatly.
I thank you so much for your lovely comment! You have INSPIRED ME to keep plugging away!!! Merci Beaucoup!
Hmmm....I'll have to Google it...maybe I can find a sound byte of it. But I think I know the tune....I'll work on it for you!!! Gotta get my "chops" ready for St. Paddy's Day! (sluuuurp.....burp!) LOL!
Fine job. I hope you kept at it. If you did I'll bet you're in a band today :)

Hey nice tunes. You play pretty good. I LOVE banjo!! I'd love to see you play pluck.
I play the drums (Tama) but they are too big for my rig, so just use my hands and feet when on the street...
Take care...
