"I assume you have some basic skills with how to work gimp" sorry haha but who puts a tutorial on and assumes that the ppl using it are doing so because they are profeciant with the program, thats like a teacher starting a reception class with "well since youve come to the most basic start of education i assume you already know the basics". no. no. were watching it because its a tutorial. tutorials r supposed to teach beginners.(pluss for speed pres ctrl + L for layers, not dialogs then layers)

Not everyone's teeth are naturally white anyway. A lot of people have a natural grey tint to their teeth - god, I'm a fountain of useless information, LOL

Ill show you the more realistic way.Well kinda the same lol.

Open Gimp then open your picture.Open the layers dialog thingo and right click on the background layer and go new layer Then change the mode to saturation choose paint brush and change the brush to the biggest fuzzy one..Choose white colour...Zoom in to the teeth and paint them then when your done it should look white!!!

To avoid getting a bit of a weird gray color, I wouldn't use that technique on badly yellowed teeth. Otherwise I think it can be very effective.

i downloaded gimp, and all my pics shrink a WHOLE bunch after i edit them. like the picture itself gets smaller when i try to put it on myspace for example. and also the pics go from like 800 kb to 19 mb...

How do I fix this??

because there isn't much point in having gimp at all if its gonna do this!!

Myspace automatically shrinks pictures after they are uploaded if the dimensions are too large.

or you just probably make the canvas too small when you open a new picture. When you open GIMP and select open-new, make sure you make the canvas the size you want your final picture to be.

The main purpose of the transparent layer is so that if you make a terrible mistake, you can easily delete that layer and go again.

If your point is that the transparent layer doesn't seem to be needed, I concede that you're right.
