yeah i agree in a sense, he ha a lot of Elvin's vocabulary, but man Jeff Watts is where its at in that context. Brian Blade man this guy is just ridiculous! you should see him live!

There's no melody. This is a fraud. Besides, if you play drums, why the fuck would you want to play the melody? Feeling insecure? By the way, Joshua Redman sucks.
@CroissantOrange F*ck you. Seriously. Quit all your activities concerning music right now, that will be best for the world. Just get an office job and shut the f*ck up.
@CroissantOrange Insecure playing melody on drums? I'm a jazz drummer and from experience I can say that transposing melodies onto the drumset is one of the most courageous, musical, and difficult things you can possibly do on the instrument. It's not like a melodic instrument where the notes are where they are, there's so much room for interpretation and that interpretation can be, and is, incredibly daunting to tackle; and Blade tackles it with ease and amazing proficiency.
Brian Blade is one of the most exciting drummers ever! He is extremely musical, as this solo shows. He reacts to the music around him so acutely,
And his treatment of time is amazing! He's all over that barline: on top, behind, in front of, etc. He literally keeps me on the edge of my seat.
I remember the first time I heard him. It was a short solo. I remember thinking "Where's 1?" At that time I thought maybe his time was bad. In reality, it's just that Good.
dude the first time i heard him was about 2 years ago. the way he attacks the set, just emphasizes everything perfectly and its never too much. Awh more people need to be looking into this guy he's an outstanding musician all around.
