It's not a sequel or anything like that. John Fusco, the scriptwriter just used the characters and made his own story. It's just kinda funny that the story is about 80% the same as The Journey West. I guess that passes for original nowadays in the movie business; especially in the rest of the world that hasn't seen the hundreds of TV shows and movies already produced based on it.
Jet Li did not do a good job acting as Sun WuKong. The movie was great! but I wish he'd be more monkey-like as portrait by Liu Xiao Ling Tong and Dicky Cheung.
