The Kenyans are absolutely amazing people, and runners. When the Kenyans run a race of this magnitude and win, the money goes towards supporting their whole community of where they are from in Kenya. Many of the villages in which they live in Kenya suffer from extreme poverty, and even some in the past suffering from genocide by rebel groups. As Americans, we should learn something from them, and try to love each other as they do. What a powerful message.
it always gets closer to an even 2 hours and possibly 1:57 but its the hills up and down that determine a quicker finish a grand race at that anyway. robert makes it look too easy though someone could ecplipse it with 2 hours or under very soon would take a lifetime training commitment
@christtam I am a runner too, however it is not my profession, I do it for the sense of achievement. When you make your living from running and sport endorsements as I'm sure this man does you will run many races in the year. they will set themselves goals, e.g. I aim to win this race or I want to run a PB in this race or even I want to break the world record in this one. I don't think that they push themselves at the same rate from one race to the next.
@christtam I disagree he won! Pehaps he could have gone even faster but what is the point? Unless he had set himself a record time it's stupid to run faster than you have to, you risk injury and for this guy he will probably run more marathons in the year so why put his fitness at risk for just one race when he doesn't need to?
