Thanks for the video. Not to be negative, but could I suggest that in future when demonstrating a microphone, it's better to not add background music?
What I was hoping to do when I bought the Rode Podcaster was to use my webcam to produce video and use the Rode for audio. But then I have found that the Rode records as a Wav file and my webcam recording software does not copy as a Wav file. So I have been searching the web for a solution to this problem. Is there webcam software that supports wav files? Or do I need to buy a proper video camera?
If anyone reading this comment has a solution please reply.
@iankyoko The mic records in any format. It's analog. The device/software you hook it up to will decide what format you record in; wav. aiff, flac, mp3, etc...
You camera or camcorder will usually output the format. So, maybe you need to upgrade your video camera. If you don't have the money for a new camera, you can get conversion software that converts the wav file to anything you want.
Hello from Ole. Are you still here? I'm really frustrated. You do not tell us what programs you use for audio and video. How to sync the original audio and video source in the program
@OleRanders Hi there, we use Adobe Premiere to edit our videos and Adobe Audition to edit audio. Synchronizing the two together is quite a simple job of matching the audio peaks by eye.
@cranbournemusic Hi! One of my friends would like to buy a microphone like that maybe this Rode Podcaster - I think it's enough for a rapper to begin music making at home. He will use compressors and plugins with the recorded samples to get a richer tone..
I know this microphone was made only for podcasting to record speech but what's Your opinion about that?
I got the Rode Procaster in the mail about a week ago, I got a lot of hissing noise. Probably because I was using an XLR to USB converter. I Should have gone with this USB version, I'm returning it and exchanging it for this one. I just hope the quality is the same (even though the XLR version I had was crap) :P
@NopeMusic - While I agree the sound is much better from the PROCASTER, I think for those users who simply want to upgrade from the more traditional low-end mic/headset they may have obtained from their local electronics shop, and who don't want to have to invest in say a XLR/USB converter to hookup to their PC, adding yet another unwanted cost to their pocket-book, the PODCASTER provides the simple 'plug-n-play' benefit that they're ultimately looking for....thoughts/opinions are welcomed!
@NopeMusic ok I see that the usb has some features to it, but I'm talking about the quality of the sound, are they the same? Cause the procaster seems more professional
What is the difference between the Rode Podcaster and Procaster? other than the connection type of USB or XLR, are they the same quality and are they both dynamic? Basically my question is if I'm going to get the SAME EXACT thing except for the connection
This sounds like a great microphone, and I'm seriously considering getting it. But after checking out Shop Bot, it give me a site that was much much cheaper:

So how would this work with a soundcard if the card doesnt have a usb slot? Hmmm...
fresnochaboi 1 month ago
@fresnochaboi It is its own sound device, bypassing the sound card in the computer.

Sounds like it's picking up alot of ambient noise, shouldn't have run music the whole way through.

Its nice but you sound overmod, you have to trim down your mic level a little bit.
