  • In the 1st few seconds all i heard was peeing

  • U put too much water.....one day they will drown

  • @flowerstarlove they wont drown! in the wild red eared sliders live in water that can be over ten feet deep. as long as they have a place to bask, they will be fine

  • aww the precious moments of the turtles, cute video. my turtles can destingush my voice and feel because when someone else comes around there tank or picks them up they fuss

  • 5:20 looks like a creature from the deep lol

  • how many years can a red ear slider turtle live? please let me know

  • @yesicalamasbonita if u take care of them... they will outlive u. mostly like 30 to 80 years

  • These guys are really cute!! :) I bought a RES yesterday.. and I already see the need to get him a bigger tank. How big is this one?

  • They are very cute. I had a RES for many years, but I never really saw him yawn or drink like yours do. Mine would often take a big mouthful of air, then go underwater and blow bubbles.

    Great video!

  • are you sure they were 3 months old I have 2 red eared sliders myself and I've had them for 3 months or so and their shell is green and I'm pretty sure there not that big

  • great video! I recently got 2 RES turtles.. they're very shy.. most of the time they hide when Im in the room, or if Im not sitting perfectly still in my room.. is there any way to get them more comfortable with me? Would frequent handling help? Id appreciate a couple tips because yours both seem very comfortable with you! thanks

  • I really enjoyed watching this video.

The stretching pose was so cute xD

They must be really big by now D:

  • 5 out of 5 stars

  • i got one RES in a 20 gallon aquarium with a custom basking dock made of bricks and a ladder of rocks to get up there:) BTW cool video

  • That water is sooooooo clean.

  • My slider was so ruse to me the other day; I put him in a feeding tank and before I even got the food out, he turned his head around and gave me a look. :?

  • I definitely meant to say rude.

  • those look older than 3 months old

  • my turtle, odus, likes to just climb on... anything thats near him!!! example: my starfish.

  • heyy, i just wanna ask u something... i have 2 red eared slider one is 8 1/2 inch and 7 1/2 inch. i also have these 2 oscars about 7 to 8 inch... can i join them into one big tank???

  • I think it's ok.I have African Dwarf Frogs and my Red-Eared Sliders in the same habitat.

  • what type and how many watts is ur bulb in ur baskign area

  • can be given as well

  • my turtles r a bit bigger den dat.

is it ok for my turtles 2 start eatin goldfish?

    plz reply.

  • yes of course. you can feed the with any kind of fish, and even raw meat like pork chicken, or ham. i hav 7 big ones and by next summer i expect to have some eggs from them. be aware fresh water fish contain the Thiaminase enzyme in their liver and this denaturates ane very important amino acid (thiamine) so is better to avoid feeding them every day with fresh H20 fish. raw meat and lettuce can b

  • yea you can but they may just bite them and eat like half of the fish cause its all they can handle in one bite and the rest might dirty up ur tank but they will love the fish

  • Goldifsh are a very unhealthy thing to feed a turtle they are a very fatty food. Its better to feed them guppies, minnows, rosie reds/tuffies. They are a lean fish.

  • they are cute. i remember my red-eared slider when he was a baby. now he is 7 years old and loves to climb on people that are sleeping or lieing on the floor. they can be very friendly turtles. :)

  • i got two red eared slider turtle they are only 2 weeks old

  • mine are 3 years old and are only about 3 inches, well one is about 3 and the other is about 2 and1/2

  • dang it takes them ONLY seven minutes to bask? I saw get back in the water so it wasnt on there the whole time.

  • make sure it not warm for 2 long or they might problems.

  • i have these turltes but they are liek 4 months old and i dont know like should i put a lot of water in teh tank?

  • my mom says I can get 2 of them.

  • This video is a really good one! Your set up for the turtles is a good one, and their enviroment is unbelievably clean. You've done a good job all the way around.

  • U can fill ur tank ALOT more if needed

  • what filter that you use.... the water is so clean... OMG, how do you clean that big tank, please answer me

  • Haha, I thought my turtles were the only ones who say "screw the ramp, were climbin strait up the side!" VERY good video!

  • they grow to fast i had my turtles when they were 1" and in 12 months they will be 7-8" check out my video

  • Nice Tank

  • does the tank have to b that big? bcuz i have 2 at home in a 15 gallon tank

  • yeah one inch turtle shell, must 10 gallon... remember that. and for filter must 3 times the tank gallon.. example... the tank 10 gallon.. filter must be for 30 gallon. because they are poopers and dirty eaters. you must know that and you must accept that.

  • uhhh question, should u have a all water tank like u do or a 50 land 50 water or 75 water 25 land

  • umm id go with 60 water n 40 land thats what i do

  • My turtle eats the basking dock. Get something stronger.

  • where did you get the rock where they bask on?

  • Petco. I got a smaller one

  • i got 2big red eard sliders and 1 baby yellow bellie slider and 1 baby baby pianted turtle

  • aww there so cute

  • i also have a red ear slider, he is 4 years old and is about 7 inches long

  • Amazing video with amazing photography good job 5 stars

  • wow....I don't like big tanks (even tho I have one for my Russian Tortoise) but for water turtles, cuz what if theres like all this food at the bottom and the filter doesnt pick it up..then what lol :P

  • thats why i take my turtle out and feed in a seperate tank. if you have the supplies it helps a bunch.

  • woah! nice tank!.. i have my 2 baby ear slider turtles in like a lagoon... as dey get bigger ima buy dem a bigger tank.. QUESTION: how long does it take for dem to grow big? i think mine are like 3 or 4 months old. im rele not sure.

  • i have three and one of them just hatched yestrday from my big fat turtle, since my fat turtle eats alot and we raised her when she was a few weeks old, she grew medium in like 1-2 weeks, and she grew to the size now in a couple of months.

  • nice turtles!!

  • i have a RES, but only one. that and he lives in a small tank, so even though he is 7 months old, he is just a bit bigger than the RES's in the vid. 2 questions.... should i get a bigger cage w/ another RES to be with him? plz right on comments for this vid to respond...ty...that and GREAT VID!!!!!!!! :)-smile =^.^= -cat :@)-pig :-D -bigger smile

  • Almost a perfect tank. -Think some background would top it off?

  • Woah your tank looked perfect and your turtles look happy. That must be very time consuming, eh? or is it easier then it looks?

  • I have a painted turtle and a RES... There in like a 5 gallon tank (There babies btw) and I feed them "Repto treats" these little orange logs, and some times bits of carrots... they love the food. But they poop like crazy so there's like orange crap everywhere... I have a filter but I guess it's not very strong so it only gets the really small peices... Is there anything I can do to stop this?

  • Man,your aquarium is really clean

  • if the eyes are closed then try finding some eye medicine or eye drops for turtles at your lps

  • ohhhhhhhhhhh Yeah We Need an Update!

  • u should add some music to this

  • i ahve a baby one and its in a tiny cage w/ 3 inches of water. Is this good? Can someone email me on my youtube about how to take care of a small female RES? i would greatly appreiciate it. Thanks.

  • well you Need a Ten Gallon tank and A baskin spot and you need to Put about 5-8 inches in there!

  • i have a RES, and i have the same floating dock thing, and all mine does all day is chill between the two rods.

i think he does that b/c he is lonely. i had him given to me, and the tank he as in before had 4 turtles in it. he is still pretty small. should i get him a friend yet or wait till he is bigger.

ill post a video soon to show my lil' frankenstein

  • u should hav gotten a 20 long

  • very cute!! i also have 2 RES,.. nice tank set-up

  • OMG! The strecthing part is adorable!

  • At 8:00 is that turtle foreplay or are they just fighting over the sun beam? lol

  • mine eats shrimp and anything dat moves including my frog, tadpoles and lizard but to distract it i feed them veggies and bits of fruit. watermelon is to their liking but not alot just for a treat! :]

  • DAMMM BIG @SS TANK

  • are red ear slider turtles fun to have?

  • Yes, i would say that they are extremely good pets, however you need the time, money and commitment in order to keep them.

Anyway, check out my videos of wild red ear sliders hunting.

  • can u hold them and do they get close to their owners?

  • yea there good pets but u need 2 have lots and lots of money 2 buy the things that they require ex: basking place, heat lamp, heat bulb, filter, good, terrarium thats about 100 dollars

  • r they ur turtles?

  • hi! my pet mouse recently died :'( and i wanted a red eared slider..but my dad said yes and my mom said no..do u have any ideas how i can convince them? also is a 10 gallon tank enough for them? also can guppies live with them or will they eat them? thanks for ur help!

  • Sorry for your loss, I've also experienced this several times...

Please research before you buy any pet, especially reptiles. A 10-gallon tank is not enough for a red eared slider, maybe only a 1-inch hatchling. As they grow, you will have to upgrade to bigger and bigger tanks, so its best to just buy a (minimum) 120 gallon tank istead of wasting money to keep upgrading once a month. The rule of thumb is minimum 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle. They eat guppies.

  • 120 gallon tank? Would you mind metricing that up a bit for those of us not in the US? Also if you got two does that mean you have to double the size?

  • the babies are so cute!

  • funny story my grandpa owns a feedlot (place where you raise cows) and my cous works there and theres pond near by he dug up 12 res turtles

  • yeah sliders need a place to bask. and in that basking area it needs to be warmer than the water.
