@xXfoursh0tXx well slipknot and slayer have influenced my playing a lot. thats why i never really learned to sweep more than 3 or 4 strings. i tend to play more like them cause i like their guitar style. especally slayer i just like slipknots solos and some riffs, fuck the rest of slipknot. but i favor more of black metal playing with a lot of speed picking (granted i suck at guitar) but thats just what im in to

I recommend you listen to bands like Megadeth, Dream Theater and Nevermore if you want to hear good playing without an over-abundance of sweep-picking. Black metal I'm not too hot on but I do listen to Immortal, Bathory and Darkthrone on occasion and like what they do.
