I am a recovered fibromyalgic who left the medical profession to discover the cause and cure for this horrific disease after 15 years of failed treatments. I understand this illness completely from the inside and back out again. Symptoms are often mistaken as a cause and what can help does not cure. Please, do not give up and keep going. See my You Tube video "Curing Chronic Fibromyalgia - Choosing What Works" and my best wishes to you all!!!
Hi Christina- Well, as I'm sure you've discovered, there is tons of controversy on the topic of fibro and diet. Personally, I think it is an individual thing and you will have to discover exactly what you can tolerant. However, there are certain things that many fibromyalgics cannot tolerate. For example, caffeine stimulates the CNS. So, it can ramp up your pain signals. I can't tolerate gluten, so anything with any wheat amplifies my pain signals. (continued)
(continued) Note-- it often takes 24 - 48 hours to react to a food. So, don't assume because you ate a donut, and "still feel OK" that you are gluten-tolerant. Oh, don't we all wish the world was that kind to us fibromyalgics. :) (I miss donuts.) To find out what foods you react to, you will need to keep a food journal. Write down everything. Then, write down how you feel. You'll notice patterns in no time at all. And, then you'll have a diet that works for you. :)
Hi Teresa! Oh, I hear you 'bout chocolate! Someone sent me a great link from WebMD with a fibro diet. It lists foods to avoid. No surprises on the list. But, wow. It would be soooo hard to eliminate all of them. I think the best someone can do is keep a food journal and figure out what their personal triggers are and what they react to. It takes about 24-48 hours to react to a food trigger. It sounds like you do not react to coffee. I hear you 'bout the chocolate! total comfort food! :)

I've recently decided to switch to decaffe.
Then maybe my mind will still get tricked into alertness, without exasperateing my symptoms :) Have you tryed this already?

Coffee isnt my bad thing for caffine; my problem is giving up chocolate. I want to give it up, but it has become my survival self medication, lol.
