The lift is a health-and-safety thing. They cant just let anyone on (even if you're related). It's a bit rude to say "so dont comment", when its quite clear that they're lying.
She's so fun to watch. She really makes an effort to make Elphaba her own creation. She takes a lot of risks with the way she plays the part, not all of her choices I like, but that's to be expected. I love Idina, but Kristy is refreshing!!
The Galinda is Stacie Morgan Lewis!! I saw these two when they were in Chicago (I think this vid is in Chicago in fact)- I TOTALLY LOVE Kristy Cates, she has an amazing and her "No body in all of oz" is really AMAZING. Kristy Cates was my first Elphaba and will always be my favorite one!
I can't stop watching Kristy perform this. I was so lucky to see her in Chicago. The nuances she brings are so personal and set her apart from other Elphabas. Listen to the way she speaks "And nobody in all of OZ". The way she says "OZ" is hauntingly scary how close it sounds to the wicked witch in the original Wizard Of Oz. BRILLIANT.

she rushes the rhythm alot... then slows down randomly. i'm not sure if i like that :/ i know they're supposed to make it their own but it just wasn't working for me. but she has a beautiful voice! just like every elphaba!
i love Kristy and shes related to me i have been to all of her shows and have been on the lift and it was so fun i sing just like her i think i like it i am only ten but i am real tall i am her hight
@wickedjpan ye you haven't been on the lift. and i doubt ur even related to her. They can rarely even let non-cast members on stage. let alone the lift cause of Occupational Health and Safety Laws.

Kristy Cates was my first Elphaba (when she was still Ana's standby), and I think she's still my favourite. She really owned the role, and was such a force to witness on the stage. A fantastic performance, a good recording, we're lucky to have it. I wish Kristy had gotten more exposure as Chicago's Elphaba, one of the best to play the part.
Actually it has nothing to do with the Chicago production. It happens in alot of the productions. It's not the spotlight...... the actresses are supposed to fling their cape over the lift when they get in, and alot of them forget sometimes, and then you can see the back of the lift. The cape is supposed to cover that.
