@countrygirlx3 I'm actually from Arkansas. A friend in Texas gave me the Alabama hat. I'm not a sports fan, but I've learned to say roll tide when I where it. :)
@00neal hell, then ask me... I was born in mississippi. My old man could curse like a sailor when it came to riling against the federal government, colored folk, homosexuals. Guess you from the north, makin fun of us down here.
@junipermama1 I could be wrong about this, but there's a verse in the Bible that says not to swear an oath. Some people in the south a long time ago wouldn't say, "Well, I'll swear!" because of that verse. I think they said, "I'll swannee" as a safe alternative to, "I'll swear." Suwannee is a river in Georgia made famous by a folk song and it's pronounced swannee.
@junipermama1 00neal is correct! as a georgian we say "i suwanne" as an alternative to "i swear" kind of like we say "she's a real bitty" instead of "she's a real b*tch"
@crimsonrose013 some are regional. "If that don't put pepper in the gumbo," for example, is something you're only likely to hear in cajun country. My favorite, "Is a frogs ass waterproof" is one I read somewhere and remembered it because it made me laugh, but I've never actually heard anyone say it.
@junipermama1 Oh yeah! That's a good one and it reminds me of how some girls call their mom's mother and their dads daddy in the same sentence, "mother and daddy." That's going in the next one! Thanks!
If you have some favorite southern sayings, leave a comment. I'd like to make more of these! It was fun to use this accent outside an auto repair shop. :)
You forgot to say roll tide after everything ahahha but I guess the hat makes up for it

@clutzywithclass there first time I saw, "Go Cocks!" was on Facebook and it was posted by a fairly conservative woman. Now I know it's about sports.

@00neal Oh, that's really good to know. That explains a lot about my grandmother's constant swaneeing.
