  • worse than HID's?

  • I have a car which uses projector halogen headlights. I am wondering how this would perform using projectors. Does anybody know how this would perform?

  • Not well at all. LIike the man said these are just for show. There's no cheap way around it . If your looking for that intense purple/white HID look your going to have to purchase an HID conversion kit. Go Phillips USA or Mcculloch (made in Germany ) I paid $269.00 for my Phillips kit. Stay away from brands like Flashtech and the other E Bay Garbage. Most of them are Chinese made knock off kits and could fry your voltage regulator. And if your car is new you just voided your warranty.

  • You have your headlights on.... but it's still dark

  • If you are looking for an LED replacement for a 9004 headlight (Sylvania Silverstar Ultra or equivalent)....... sorry. There isn't a stand alone LED headlight that can come anywhere near the lumens of a 9004 bulb as of yet.

  • They look nice but wouldnt use them as main headlight. I have a Mazda 6 and CTS and put LED on my parking/daytime lights, It looks really nice, especially the cool blue color. Stick with Sylvania Cool Blue for main headlights.

  • well check the koito site they develop the ultra brilliant led and i think the lexus already mount that kind of tech...the halogens compare with this r much better

  • terrible light output,,,,,better off with HID and use LED in the fogs

  • I sell LED driving lights.. but i DO NOT offer them on my website. why? driving visibility is poor. Yes there are some Acura's and other Cars that have LED headlights from "FACTORY" because they produce a beam pattern long and wide enough to see down the road. I'd rather sell my customers HID Kits, with Projector Retrofits to give the car added style and safety. Although I liek this video. Neither LED and fog lights should be made into driving lights. Be careful when you do this. your risking...

  • fog lights are nowhere near a substitution for headlights. LED headlights are just a bad idea. You call them driving lights but even driving lights are meant to be used with headlights, and driving lights dont put the light where you need it. Myabe get some real HID projectors and get LED fog lights, You will be safe and get rid of halogen look

  • Maybe I can (no pun) throw some light on the confusion...

I custom build Scouts (IHC)... and made some great projector and LED headlights... now the rub...

While they are bright, and look great, they THROW LIGHT LIKE CRAP. I discovered after a 3pm install, then a 400 mile drive. By the time I got into deer danger and turned on the lights.. I discovered the nightmare. Think of them like a flourescent light... they create great light, and can be SEEN from afar... but the throw of light is

  • Nice vid jay611j. Thanks man

  • My friend i do have a Hyundai ELANTRA. and i want to know ig the LED H3 Fog lights are good to drive in city , or the hid is better, thanks

  • could you compare standard halogen bulb with HID WHITE SMT 68 on the road, wall

  • Every time I look around for led head lights for my car, it's recommend not to use led bulbs for head lights, b/c the bulbs don't throw out enough light on the road at night and night driving visibility poor.

  • That's why you should at least have driving lights as well. I have two halogen driving lights with my LEDs. LEDs by themselves would not be recommended.

  • @jay611j Don't do it... the light THROWN is different from the light seen. The throw is an unfocussed mess. People can see you, but you can see nothing!!

  • @jay611j i have 2 hids on my yamaha r6 but there two draining would one hid and led be a good idea?

  • @jay611j They look gd. I was thinking about putting some on my SUV, but like the other guy said they dont put out enough light and the way my car is wired it gives dash lights for every damn little thing that the car detects doesnt belong there.

I will put them in and see. As far as halogen driving lights...will it still put out a white looking light or once it mixes with yellow halogen it will equalize to a yellow.

  • @jay611j What do you class as driving lights? What you showed on the bottom of the car are FOG LIGHTS, not driving lights. In the UK you get fined for using front or rear foglights unless there is fog! LEDs as headlights are useless compared to 55watt bulbs. The ONLY car using LEDs for headlights is the AUDI. They need 5 superbright LEDs aimed at different angles through huge lenses to produce a light intensity that matches a halogen bulb. Never use these cheap LEDs, you invalidate insurance.

  • @urbex2007 No they are driving lights and here in the USA they can be used at anytime while driving. As far as the LEDs go, they are for SHOW, not everyday driving! By the way, this video was geared towards a certain group on a forum.

  • @jay611j They look good man, good job. If you want more light output, try switching your fogs to led's and put the halogens or hid's in the main headlights. Bigger reflector and higher up= longer throw.

  • @hustleman76 that's the nature of LED: they produce brightness but not much light..

  • Can you please make a video comparing your stick brake lights to the leds?

  • i have a question can 3175 led dome lights fit into a dome light area for a 97 nissan maxima ? i keep searching and can't seem to find a way to see if it'll fit

  • It should fit. 3175 is the stock bulb for a 97 Maxima, and the LED dome lights are pretty much made to stock sizes for the most part.

  • hmm ok cuz the front dome lights not the center ones use what's called a . 57 lightbulb. and they've been discontinued. i noticed this after i attempted to cahnge a blown out bulb and the metal brackets holding them broke. so i gotta redo teh connections and place a standard 3175 in there.

  • Thanks for putting up this vid! I've been debating whether or not to buy LED headlights bulbs..this helps a good bit

  • me second that.

  • @Kand1nSky second what? Your comment is meaningless unless you tell everyone what you are referring to!

  • @Maseratih22 Definitely do NOT use LEDs in your headlights. If you have an accident whether or not it involves headlight use, you will be prosecuted. In the UK fitting these invalidates your insurance which leads to a criminal prosecution and loss of the car if very unlucky. LEDs from dealextreme are no good and definitely no match for a 55watt halogen! You can see it for yourself, they are bright, but project no light. You really would be mad, fit candles on the bonnet instead!
